Title: tap! noise when shiftin

i have a 2000 750 ducati monster its my first one and i would like to know if is normal to hear a tap! noise when i shift the gears, its most common to happen in the lower ones 1st, and 2nd gear and i dont know how many miles i have cause i bought it without the instrumental gauge if u guys know who is selling one or any other one that fits thanks! make sure the chain is not too tight or the clutch not disengaging fully.

With the wet clutch you'll get a pronounced *thunk when going into 1st from N.  Since the wet clutch transfers a tiny bit of power to the rear wheel, even when the plate stack is separated.  As a result, you'll get a little thuk in the drive line.

To see if the clutch is fully disengaging go in and out of neutral with the bike running at a stand still . It you have a hard time getting neutral then you may have air in your clutch hydraulics ,or as  YUU said it may be oil sticking the clutch pack together.

so that means on a wet clutch is normal to hear the tunk" sound?

some times . If the clutch is not disengaged then the dogs will catch up with each other and engage harshly.
