is the 23rd Annual
Big Texas Toy Run
What an event! Where are DFWMers going to meet up at?
I fear biker gangs
Hmm, seems like we discussed going to this last year. I think Cory was the only one who actually wound up going. The group he rode with met at Wild Child near my house....
...not many sport bikes at this event.
These toy runs are so much fun. I've gone every year since I started riding again. Unfortunately, I won't make it this year. I don't have a bike to ride. [roll] Next year........ [moto]
Well that's interesting the comments. I live very close to I-30 and each year they go by we take a cooler of beer to the Oakland St. overpass and watch it. You can hear at my house a mile away. I've always told myself that if I get another bike I'll do this so this is that year. Ho Ho Ho
;D Last year I got caught at a light downtown coming off woodall rogers by the Santa Run easily 10 minutes wait - they had [leo] escort !
I stopped the car got out and watched & others who were at first annoyed also got out after a while - I saw a lot of sportbikes & 6-8 Ducs - it would be cool to have a squad in the ride - they had some awesome big dog choppers & trikes & pretty much everything but mostly Harley flavor !
I think Cyclonette might enjoy this - if the weather is good ! [thumbsup]

I think they start at three places (Grapevine, Dallas, and Fort Worth) and ride into Arlington.
I agree that it would be very cool to have a showing of non-cruisers. [thumbsup]
It's a great cause, for sure.

Yep I went last year, and as far as I could tell I was the only Ducati! Definately a ton of cruisers but I still had a blast, and everyone was super nice. I loved watching the reactions to the dry clutch [cheeky]. Theres just something about a 15 mile line of motorcycles rumbling down the highway that will never get old.

A big ol AMEN Brother to that! I finally will be one of them.
This sounds interesting. Does each rider bring a toy or is it a fund-raiser sort of thing? I'd like to get involved [moto]

Big Texas Toy Run

not to be a buzzkil but be very careful. I didn't go last year because riding with some 10,000+ bikers was enough for me for the previous 4 years. it's a lot of fun and it's an experience to remember BUT there are a lot of $20,000 bikers that ride 10 miles a week and slingshot and never hold their line. Either ride at the very front (get there VERY early) or the very back and get ready to get high from the fumes. for me, I'm out of these behemoths. I do run another three like Collin County, Denton County and McKinney though. If you want to do those PM me.
And yes you must bring a toy or donate, I think $10.
I can see your point Dax. I see a lot of swervy wervy bikes in that segment of bikedom in the first place. At slow speeds 850-1000 lbs of hot motorcycle is hard to hold up!. I live on the east side of Fort Worth and have watched the run yearly from along the side of road as throngs of people do sitting in the back of the pickup waving flags. Maybe it's a better decsion to again watch from the pickup. To get an idea YouTube it and watch to get a feel.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go, personally I don't for this reason BUT it's an experience you should have. So that said either get there very early or late. Don't ride in the middle of the pack.
A disclaimer: I've never done a "toy-run" which may be a lot better but again, not to be "Steve Buzzkillington", I did the Ride for Kids Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation ride last year in Grapevine. It was fun, however, very slow (clutch hand got a work out), and a lot of slingshooting (?). I'm glad I did it, though not really looking forward to doing it again. Maybe in a few years I'll get the bug. Gotta work for this one anyway. You kids have fun now hear!
Steve
My bike doesn't like to go slow. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! ;D
No problem donating $10 for the kids though.

I call, "SWEEP" [laugh] [bang]
I was looking forwad to this; good excuse to break out my leather jacket with fringe...
I'm serious.
They don't call me Cher for nuthin' [evil]
I must see this jacket...

it's legendary.
i may be game for this...have to remind those chopper types that there are other loud bikes out there. but yeah...i'm not cool with slingshotting at will.

I agree. Please don't slingshot at me. ;D
You guys don't HAVE to be part of the super slow parade down I-30.
Yeah, sounds like all we need to do is break off from the mega group at about the half way point and maybe have Swanny lead us on a casino run. We'd be back to T for T before anyone even realized we were gone [evil]
If any of you do decide to do the parade just be carefull it's easy to get distracted. There were like 3 different wrecks last year, I am sure some showing off was involved [roll]
I am actually up for slingshotting ( at? ) Will. I'm not yet sure what this means, so I'm going to go look it up, to make sure it's not dirty. but I'm probably still up for it.
Why? you know why... seriously. you know.

we will be if it climbs above 20 by the time we plan on leaving but by the looks of things it seems like a grim possibility.
PM me in the am with phone
I'm still interested in doing it! I have to get my bike from the WareHome though ??? whenever L'A'd J wakes. Otherwise I'm sunk.

Would you join the Grapevine folks, Dax?
Red, does the bike look promising?

Holy Moly, i'ts a heat wave! it's all the way up to 21 here!
If anyone knows what time the hallowed halls of the warehome open please let me know.
I do know the peeps start assembling downtown by 9 right? The ride starts after that. I'd like to go to downtown FW to start if that's ok with anyone wanting to ride. CJ?
Yup, I'd meet downtown Fort Worth or somewhere outside of there first to meet and then ride in for sign-up.
Uh....6 degrees wind chill .....Here's the deal, That's Too Cold to sit still for hours. It's not suppose to warm to much over freezing today! And the biggest deal...as expected, my Christmas present of some new Ducati leathers hasn't appeared yet. I am going to need some Dianese 58's NOT 54's to keep my Santa size arse warm. And most of all my kitchen points account hasn't been fulfilled it seems. Going to have to pass on the ride AGAIN this year.
"The Svoloch is sitting in the condo right now thinking to his honorable self that those pansies in the flatlands don't know cold! I'm about to forge out into the wilds of Colorado's sub-zero freezer! ARRRGH!"...he says as the Kingly roar comes forth.

...and that Dianese is murder. ;)
OK, here's to hoping for warmer weather next year for this ride.

I tried to go this morning but when I opened the garage door and reached for my helmet I was frozen in time. Good day to clean house, damn shame it's so pretty outside.
I had to post to keep the run going. This will be 7 straight until someone posts.

When we headed out this AM, I saw a few groups of bikes headed out toward downtown.
Did anyone watch them heading toward Arlington?
