So its getting cold to the degree (pun intended) that I am thinking of putting the bike up in accessible and workable storage for the winter, so that on those freak 50 degree days I can grab her and get out for at least a few hours. Although with all that I want to do to her this year, I don't know if there'll be enough parts left on the bike to actually ride it. Below is a list of what I am hoping to do this winter. Interested in seeing what everyone else is planning on doing.
Powder coat new white wheels that are a pregnant dog to clean in gold (kind of like 1098r gold)
Anodize forks black (originally wanted gold, but see above...)
Lower headlight and gauges (on the way this week actually) and clean up wiring behind the headlight
Powder coat or paint front and rear brake caliper carriers black
Repaint tank, seat cowl, and front fender gloss black with gold stripe
Pull engine and VHT coat black (fixing a few things here and there along the way)
Replace clutch and rear brake lines with Speiglers in black/titanium to match the front
Ummm...I think that's it. Pretty much planning on pulling everything off at once if possible. Ship off what I'm not doing myself, and work on the rest while the pieces are out. That's the plan anywho...
Lets see everyone else's plans for the winter!!
2006 Sport 1000 is gonna get:
Superbike forks and new clip-ons.
S*R top triple.
Top-mount steering damper.
Ceramic coated header.
Custom exhaust.
LED rear lights and tail chop.
Upgraded headlight.
10-spoke wheels and new front tire.
Upgraded brake pads and probably rotors.
And if there's enough money left over, its going to Nate for some fresh paint.
Yep, just sent Nate an email as well...
I'd love to do the triple as well, but figure that might have to wait. :'(
Finish up what I started last winter ;D
My plans have nothing to do with my M696, but with my 1958 totalled Vespa Allstate. If I can find a frame, I'll work on that. I was supposed to also get a dead Night Hawk that just needs a new clutch, but the seller never got back to me.
I still plan to ride my M696 through our mild Northern Cal winters, so only a seat replacement. Rode for a few hours today and I lost feeling on my arse within an hour like a new prisoner in San Quentin...not that I would know what that's like. :o
Im gonna do the same thing I did last year. make a list and not do it. so here it goes
-Hide wires
-PC wheels deep gold
-PC rearsets/kickstand/swingarm black
-Paint tank Candy Apple Deep red
-change tire
Being really really cheap cause i rather have an ugly bike and nice winter gear....
Luimoto seat cover and hopefully paint job

Same here every year, I need some heated storage here in the arctic.
I think the most extensive work done on my bike until spring will be putting the battery tender on.
Disassemble and....
PC frame red
Paint tank and fender gloss black
Relocate rear blinkers inside chopped frame
Install trail tech vapor speedo/dummy lights
Install dual headlights w/fork clamps, remove headlight U-bracket
Install Red pressure plate and black open clutch cover
Hide wiring while reassembling
Replace as many bolts as I can with SS
and whatever else I see when I'm tearing her apart....
Cheers!
New low seat
Exhaust
I need to fix my crash damage on the Monster...
and paint the 996 cuz it's bufugly.
clip ons/grips
Radial Brake and Clutch Masters
4 piston calipers
320mm rotors
brake pads
cf rear hugger
-repair/replace cracked lower header, then wrap them with black header wrap.
-replace stock wiring harness & ECU with ones from pre-immobilizer monster so I can replace my 2nd set of broken POS stock gauges with aftermarket ones.

No winter mods for me, as we don`t really have a off season, might be trading the old monster up for a 07 S4R in Titanium colors [thumbsup]

I have a pearl white M696....
So far all I've put on are reflective white rim stripes (I think they look awesome!).
I've also ordered the DP touring seat, (cant wait for that to arrive as I've heard some great things about it).
I'll also do a 14T front sprocket at my 600m tune up (only have 250m on it now).
But I'd like to do more. Any suggestions? ;D

How large is your wallet? There is a lot of CF available for the 696
for my 696:
pazzo brake & clutch levers - i'm going with the short black ones
motovation frame slider - i already have it, i just need to get it installed
ducati parts 5 spoke rims with the 5.5" rim so i can mount a 180 michelin pilot power on the rear
and after those mod i think i'll be done for a little while
I've got a few things planned.

I envy you man. It is 15 degrees with an inch of snow and ice on the roads here.
My biggest mod is some crazy ass new paint, he is supposed to be done this week. Other than that just maintenance chain and filters a new smoked windscreen would be a nice finishing touch. Im hoping to take it out this weekend its supposed to get up to 34. [thumbsup]
it broke the freezing barrier here today. i rode
