Howdy all,
After chatting with a few at the Frasers Opening I thought we might have a little gathering next year.
That is a gathering of Oz Monsters Sydney town and their other/better halves.
There are quite a few of us now so I/we were thinking it might be great to meet up have a BBQ and get shot down by the S/O while talking crap.
Thinking Feb sometime, as it's far far away and also many like myself are away over Christmas and not back until Mid Jan.
cheers
Matty...
Sounds like a good idea ... or does it? (I'm not worried Jukie has already shared all my secrets with you lot)
Questions, questions questions ....
- Is it for Sydney peoples only?
- Does 'meet up' mean many cars and few bikes? No associated ride?
- What does 'have a BBQ' mean for finding a venue?
- Will this include, preclude or be associated with a proposed sound off take 2?
- Does Super need to start sewing the new DMF shirts to be ready beforehand?
Gee, questions alright.
Yes it would mean cars unless we adopt S.E. Asia laws and pack the family on one [moto], no ride associated just a chance for the Wives/G.F's to know who is on the other end of the computer.
No it's not just Sydney people.
There are plenty of parks and open spaces we can go. Dock has already said he has a portable BBQ that can do the job.
No sound off V.2 would be a separate event.
Yes Super needs to break out the Elna and start sewing again. ;D
Does that answer all your Q's
Fire anything else out if you are thinking of.
sound good to me

Bags being in the middle, that way I have people to land on when we come off.
Great Idea. Me and the Misses is in...... [thumbsup]
She thinks you are a figment of my imagination........ [roll]
How wrong she is.... :o

What are you running out of?
Do you need me to sew/knit some mittens for you again? I do knit a mean tea cosy! [thumbsup]
I'm in. Think it will be great. Matty, there's plenty of parks with gas coin operated BBQ around.
Biggest question will be what location is centralish for all or do we go for somewhere with a view?
The park at McMahons Point it great looking east onto the bridge (where Big T took those photos) don't know if it has BBQ though.
count me in Matty! sounds cool, in the past I've had BB's at Lanecove national park as they have built in hot-plates. - Chris
Another great spot is Davidson Park under the Roseville Bridge. Lots of parking and lawn areas for the kids to run wild (big and little). Just need to check on barbies but would still suggest Vince bring his if possible as Park Barbies tend to be small and slow.....
Similar to Lane Cove NP which is great as well.
McMahons Point is very nice but has limited parking and you get to many tourists there.
Just my +2 cents worth.
Cool there are a few suggestions there.
Anyone else with a place in mind.
There is also Dolls Point area just Sth of the Airport.
La Perousse
North Head also South Head or Watsons Bay.
There is also a nice place down by the waters edge near the St George Motor boat club the entry is on the right heading south just before the tarren point bridge BBQ'S, kids play ground, plenty of parking and also a swimming pool if your up for a swim.
yep I know it.
There is always good old Centennial Park.

Must admit thats the best suggestion yet [thumbsup]
Heaps of room, great place for a cricket match and shade for a warm afternoon.
Great idea, hope its not late Feb, cos we off to the supers.
S'pose anywhere around Sidley will do
Mmick
Nah it won't be Mmick cause there are a few of us heading to SBK's also.
I'm thinking first/second week in Feb.
Could also be a good planning meeting for SBK's.
Good thinking Mat, could throw a few ideas around, see what route we are taking, me, Ill be taking the missus, she's been good to me all these years etc, etc.
Mmick

I've been away from the DMF for a day or so, and just catching up this morning - I was going to suggest the same thing.
Central, plenty of parking, facilities etc....
Oatley Park?
Revesby Beach? :P
Callan Park because we are all insane? ;)

Doesn't it cost you $11 per car these days just to park the car??
Oh the shame of it all
Hey, if you have it before the 9th, I'll be in town...
I know, shameless plug.

Considering my new (regularish ride) thread, I thought I should bring this back to the surface.
Good idea, I think we were heading for the 2nd weekend of Feb, that way those of us going to SBK`s
can also do our last minute planning for it.
Centennial Park was the place of choice I believe.
Dusting the moss off this one.
Should we get this thing happening before the chilly weather sets in.
Who's for May10th (Sunday)
or
May 16th-17th
May 23rd-24th.
Centennial Park is to be the venue, I'm sure we can get a bunch of us and the S/O's along to meet up.
What-ca-ya everybody.
Anything later than the 10th and we are out (not that that should necessarily stop you).
In fact the 9th would be even better ;D ;)
9th there'll be a few of us on a little track day.
+1 for 23/24th. - Chris

that's assuming you've bought the cb............. whoops almost said too much.
hope the horse is still in the paddock and nowhere near the chainsaw...
yeh right sure NICK [roll]
I'll retort your [roll] with a ;) of my own. And there's no need to shout, it's all in good [moto] fun.
Such things aside, what date can work for you for a get together?

me shouting never [laugh].
Matty, the 10th is Mother's day, so I will assume that some people will have prior commitments (including myself!)
So unless the picnic is at EC, the 9th and 10th may both be out..
We'd be OK for the Sun 24th, and that gives a month's notice or so to all..
So the 24th of May then.
Centennial Park Sydney
Sorry Betty and Jukie but you'll be having fun in the Mother Country.

Kazakhstan?
We were actually trying to keep it quiet ... but since the cat is out of the bag ... Bankstown.
You can draw your own conclusions about the merits of Bankstown vs. Kazakhstan.
... and its no big deal if we have to miss out, you have all met my SO ... or is that what you are trying to avoid?
Quote from: Betty on April 21, 2009, 06:03:16 PM

yeah, but it would be cool to have you two rock up with the Fiat and the Lami ;D
There will be other opportunities, maybe we do the next one in Terrigal?
or maybe somewhere else hhmmmmm
name it! just figured it was closer to you guys.....
is terrigal taboo? It's kinda shit to get in and out of the place, but other than that....
terrigal is a bit of a nightmare to park anything. im thinking somewhere that has a grass area for kids to play and a beach and parking within eye distance of all of this, but it might be a bit to far for the sydney people to go ???
So where are thinking then?
Norah Heads, i went there not so long ago and there is a picnic area at the top of the beach and you can walk down there by a track and there is toilet amenities and i think there might be a bbq
we don't need a BBQ, that's sorted (awaiting dock to chime in at this point....)
well we will organise something later
[thumbsup]
