Title: Shortie or Under the tail?
Post by: Dareduc on November 19, 2008, 09:26:33 AM
I got a question for you guys... A lot of the bikes now are going with wide shortie exhausts and moving away from the under the tail position. Which do you prefer? I prefer the under the tail... but just thought I would throw it out there.

Under the tail.  Makes the bike look less cluttered.   [thumbsup]

I prefer under the tail because it gives the bike cleaner lines.

Yeah, what Heath said.

Undertails typically make the bike look cleaner. Most shorties kinda stick out, and are too noticeable, but have the potential to look real nice.

Even better, under body. But given the choice I'd go for a shortie. The weight reduction and mass centralization, while probably not noticeable for someone with my (lack of) skill still seems cool. ;)

Through-the-tail exhaust (some bikes wouldn't work any other way):

But on a Monster? I haven't seen a real tail exhaust... at all. But the shorty Termi looks fab.

That's one great looking bike.

I like the shorty if done right.

No manufacturer does right stock...and the udder kills it for the S2R Termi version. It looks even worse without the udder IMO, due to the can shape needing the udder there.

Does that Quat-D drag at all when cornering hard?

Undertail. Much cleaner appearance.

I tend to like undertail... but it largely depends on the specific bike I'm looking at.

well,, for an SSS setup,, either way will clean up the look (expose the rear wheel) but the shorty gives an aggressive look for the bike, and it should be short enough for a cleaner rear wheel

i prefer the shorty because an undertail exhaust will make your a$$ little fat imo

i have the ex-box on my S4R just to clean the look,, clean the look,, it's all about the "clean look" ;) ```
