Car decided he wanted my lane to turn right in while I was in it this morning.
Just got back from Hospital. Fortunately I walked out of there. Torn AC joint and grazes down my thigh, leg and knees.
Bikes a bit of a mess but might be fixable
The prick didn't STOP!
Sorry to hear about that Dan. All the best for a quick mend to both you and the bike.
Same thing almost happened to me coming back from the Frasers opening the other week. Thumb even missed the horn during evasive procedures .... he certainly heard me calling him a make the beast with two backsing idiot as I hit the anchors though .... luckily he pulled back after he heard me.
So when you say 'he didn't stop' was he completely oblivious or did he do a runner? Hope you got his details for a bit of follow-up.
Again, all the best with the recovery.
best I know is he didn't stop.
He couldn't miss me since I slambed into the driver door/front quarter an flew over the bonnet.
Apparentely no won got his details and I was on the ground a bit more worried about trying to breath at the time.
I don't know if the police turned up as after I left or not. I'll give them a call tomorrow.
gee danno really worried about you are you ok
(http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_7_100.gif)
Glad you're ok Dannog and hope you feel better soon. And hope that pinhead's conscience gets to them and that their repair bill is huge.
Thanks Jukie, a bit of lov is want I want.
Family have gone and rented a bunch of movies for me for tomorrow.
The bruzzes are really coming up now so I'll find a few more drugs.
Watching topgear UK, its good to have the original back.
Had a look at an 2006 S4RS online which might be a nice replacement .... plus a heap of change.
Gona give the cops a call tomorrow so that I don't have any problems with the insurance claim.
Hey good to hear that your going to be okay....... All be it a little sore and sorry for yourself..... :'(
Good luck with catching the dumb f...k who did this.......
Hit and run drivers are really the lowest of the low life's......
Bones mend, skin heals.... Bikes can be replaced....... [moto]
That sucks Dan,
Am glad you are okay, did anyone else stop to help you or was it just you and asshole car driver who departed.
Hope you mend quickly and if there is bike shopping to be done good luck and enjoy, lots to be had out there.
We already know of one White S4Rs from this board that is up for sale as we type.
cheers
Matty...
Ditto on all of the above posts Dan - hope you're mending well, and sucks to be hit and run. Hopefully when you get to the cop station, a god citizen saw what happened and reported the offenders number plate.
Hey Danno me mate how are you feeling this morning, probably a bit sore and worse for wear, but im thinking of you and hoping for a quick recovery. and here is another kiss to help you on you way.
Mend quick Danno. [thumbsup]
Ditto all the above, hope the pr*ck gets run over by a cement truck!
+1 on all the sentiments expressed here. ;)
And you get comments like a senior cop down here in the Herald Sun last week, according to him the statistics show that in crashes between cars and motorcycles, the motorcyclist is generally at fault the majority of the time!!!
I kid you not, they actually printed this crap. >:(
yeah hope you mend ok Dannog, I hate hearing of fellow bike riders hurt, esp monster riders. But unfortunately it seems to happen quite often, even after that ad campaign, people just don't look [bang].
Anyway hope you get better quick and get back on a bike soon [thumbsup]
sucks to hear this. bad enough they run you off the road but to then to flee the scene is a low act.
I'm not sure about your local laws but I know there are generally short time limits to advise the personal injury insurer if the other vehicle is unidentified. I'm note sure how your state system works. It should at least cover your medicals and any time off work.
Reporting it to the cops is prob a good start.
I hope your back on 2 wheels soon enough.
Sorry to hear about it. I'm getting a cold shivers just thinking about it.
Was this in syd?
All the best for your recovery
Dannong this i one of the main reasons i have stopped riding on the road so much, not only do you need to trust your own ability , but you need to also trust the ability of others around you,
Glad your ok [thumbsup]
I hit a moth doing 250k/h yesterday didnt stop either, arsehole just wouldnt get out of the way,I think it maybe the HID light his guts are splatered all over my jacket and tank [evil]
Thanks for the kind words guys.
I can't believe that it hurts more the day after the accident.
That was until my daughter took this photo this morning, it feels and looks like its twice the size of the other one
(http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq127/dxg00/IMG_1105.jpg)
Called the insurance company today to lodge the claim and I've been chasing the police to call me with the details from the accident. By the time they got there I'd gone on the special bus trip to RPAH.
I saw this bike online, does anyone know it?

Don't know about the nurse but the woman who was producing the TV show RPA was unbelievably stunning! I now know why people agree to be interviewed when they're in so much pain.

I bet we get a bit of respect then.....
Get well soon mate [thumbsup]

Good to hear you are OK.
Hate people not stopping... a woman hit a friend of mine while we were riding together and was trying to make it away with it. I chased her and then she told me that she didn't hear anything happening even though her car was all messed up. Now we found out that in the police report that she wrote she says that she came back herself!!! Wtf is wrong with people?
Dannog, im glad to hear your able to tell us about it. [thumbsup] Thank you for having the guts to share you story with us....
...but not so sure on the pic :-X ;D ;D - Chris
I only had jeans on. Too stupid I know. I think I'll start wearing draggin jeans to work and get changed just like I do for the boots and jacket.
The grazes really aren't that bad and certainly not what's hurting the most. The bloody bruise just keeps getting bigger.
I've come to the conclusion that that is where I took the impact from the car and its not from when I hit the ground.
I saw Rusty's ride online and lov the pearl colour... lots of K's though and as I commute it's kind of too many for me to start off with.
Bikes at Flywheels now and waiting for the insurance assessor to look over it. They think that it'll be written off but when you look at it it doesn't look too bad. I'm bummed out about all of the time and extra bits I've installed that won't be covered by the insurance but I think that this will be a good reason to update. It was a '00 after all.
don't be afraid of k's - they're meant to be ridden - I reckon some K's are too low - the seals harden, oil leaks on forks and engines etc. Mine was a much happier bike with 28k on the clock then when it had 20k after 5 years.
Looks like a great bike!
and...
no more jeans for YOU! ;)
Just got word from the assessor that my girl is a goner. They've taken her away. Looks like it all too late now as Rusty's found a buyer for his S4RS and is doing the deal tomorrow.
The grazes are healing well ( a bit to my suprise) however the bruzzing on my left leg has caused a few complications. They're now talking about draining it out. An ultasound showed that it is now 30cm long, 6cm wide and 4cm deep and extends from my hip to my knee. If it was on the inside of my leg you'd be calling me 'john holms' [cheeky]
Spider, jeans are diffently not part of the new riding gear. I knew one day I'd wake up to myself on this.
as long as there is a helmet nearby (implying there is also a motorcycle nearby) women seems to really dig leathers too.
good to hear about R_usty's girl.....be interesting to see what he replaces her with!

Absatively on that R. The more you use them the less they deteriorate. They are too dear to have sitting in a garage holding up a blanket?? [roll]
Hey Dannog, do we call you a "bruiser" from now on?? ;D ;)
Even the Draggins and such like arnt much chop. Remember they DONT have any armour/padding so you'll still damage yourself when you hit the ground!! But I suppose you'll be ok then when you are sliding. [roll]
There is a motorcycle accessory shop in Ringwood here in Vic and the owner refuses to wear Draggins now after hitting the road and having the kevlar panel split under the impact, Didnt stop him from a fair bit of impact damage either. :(
i second that a rider hit the deck here, lost the front and just slid of the road less he,s knee cap , he had draggins on too
so what is your new bike going to be Danno
The impact with the car is what caused most of my damage. The grazes thankfully are healing well. Even if I had my leathers on it wouldn't of help with the side on leg impact between my bike and the car. :(

I was all excited about picking up Rusty's S4RS - its beautiful :o but he sold it today to someone before I could sort out the insurance stuff. I'll guess I'll have to look around a bit longer.
Sorry to hear about your incident, trust you are healing well.

I've got the accessory armour in my draggin jeans, pretty cheap extra and not at all uncomfortable
