does anyone know what is needed to be done to get a title for a bike that doesnt have one?
i bought my bike this past summer from a towing company and they gave me some paperwork for it that they said would get me the title... well the tax office has turned me away saying they messed up the paperwork multiple times and i have sent it back to the towing company multiple times and gotten new stuff with the same results.
so i was wondering if anyone knows of any ways to get the title without dealing with the towing company?
i have talked to many different tax offices and some tell me i need a bonded title for it and some tell me thats wont be good.
this is a very confusing process for me even more so since im having to deal with it form up in new york.
any ideas as to what i should do?
im just wanting to be able to sell my bike (schools getting expensive haha)
or if anyone knows how they could get a title and wants to buy this bike from me ill give you a good price as im just tired of dealing with it and need it sold.
A few things; you don't mention that this is a Texas issue, but I'll assume it is b/c you have posted on the DFW Monsters forum.
Also, did you buy the bike as a salvage? Is that why it came from a towing company? If so, perhaps that's why the seller won't get you a title b/c it would probably have to say "Salvage" on it.
How old is the bike? There is a time limit for needing a title on a motorvehicle in Texas and if its older, you might not need the title.

the original owner was arrested for some reason or another and i guess after a certain amount of time of not getting the bike from the towing company it becomes their property?
its a 2000
and yes its still in texas which is why for me this is even harder to take care of being im at school in new york
The towing company should have paperwork stating that it was seized, and then sold to you. You have to take that to the tag office (I believe.)

Last year I bought a 1975 Yamaha that wasn't titled. I had to go to TX DOT at I-30 and Hwy 360 in Arlington. There I had to fill out paper work and give them the VIN number and bill of sale. Also had to have an appraisal done and was able to get Jeff Nash to do this for me via phone and digital photo. I had to buy a surety bond which I was able to get from my car insurance agent. Bike had to be inspected in TX and they give you a form to take to DMV. I then had to buy insurance for the bike. Once all the stuff was put together a title search was done and when none was found I went to the county tax office where I got my plates and title. I would call the TX DOT office in Arlington before I wasted anytime waiting in a line to see exactly which steps and in what order need to be done. The person on the phone was actually really helpful and saved me time. Your situation might be a lot less complicated. I think that there are also online sites that will do this for you for a fee.

no i dont have the paperwork in digital form unfortunately, its down with a friend of mine who is in texas trying to help me figure this all out... he is the one making all the failed trips to the tax offices and insurance companies.

was hoping to be able to get about $3300 out of it
but if someone wanted to take it without a title that would save me so much trouble so it would def make the price more negotiable

Correct - I think that was true on the 600's, maybe even on the larger ones too.
ThelmaLou's 2001 M600 has only one disc on the front wheel.

Huh. Who knew? I just thought it looked like someone may have removed it for weight reduction or something. Looks like there is still a mounting area for the caliper, are there holes for the disk mounting bolts should one wish to add more stoppie power?

thats understandable man, no sense in getting something that is not exactly what youre wanting.
and yeah steve its been a while since i looked at it but if i remember correctly it does seem that it has some sort of mounting holes on that side... as for what im not sure... but i did always assume that it was if you wanted to add another. maybe someone that knows for sure cna chime in
