Title: BORING time of year
Post by: MTBryan on November 25, 2008, 01:14:18 PM
This forum is getting SOOOOO boring now that winter is approaching.

Can't someone go out and crash, or ride in the snow, or SOMETHING that would be an interesting read?

Maybe a midnight hooligan run on the Gap right after a snow storm, on a snowmobile?

Maybe take old tires and put in the screws like the ice racers do?

The Indian guys riding 6 up was the most interesting thing I've seen in weeks. How pathetic is that?

Don't make me get creative. I can't afford it right now.

:)

P.S. My wife tells me there aren't boring times, only boring people. She was speaking to me specifically.

Oh just wait, things liven up a bit in the winter with this group. Give it another month or so and people will be at each other's throats!

You know- I always kinda liked the changing of the seasons until I bought my Monster. For some reason I don't think that doing donuts in the snow on the old four-wheeler is going to cut it for me after I spent the last bit of summer and all fall on the Duc. Maybe I'll skip the turkey with the family this week and take a little trip while I have three days off of work. Or better yet, maybe I'll just quit my teaching job, tell my girlfriend to hit the bricks, give all my stuff away, pack up nothing but the Duc and a change of skivvies and move to Arizona where I can spend the entire year riding...

Suddenly I hate Ohio. So bad. Not even coaching wrestling can settle my rage at the frigid temps now...

I ate at my fav Mexican restaurant in good ole Stockton, CA (Senior Frog's) and had a lot of gas on the way back home to San Francisco. I don't think Termis could have muffled it.

Took my bike over to heated garage about a week ago or so at 0 degrees celsius which is about 30 fahrenheit, froze my fingers off and had to drive the last couple of miles of my trip on icy road. That's about it for this season.. for the last couple of days we had a snow storm so it's fun riding around in the all wheel drive cage  [evil]

Guess the  [drink] season has officially started now :D

75 degrees, you guys are really spoiled, we only see that kind of temperature a few times a year.
No time to be bored, this friday the national motor cycle show starts at the NEC in birmingham and the following week we get to see mr Valentino Rossi drive a Ford Focus WRC rally car in the last round of the WRC in lovely wet Wales. Also got two 1098s to deliver for my local shop and a monster 1100s to run in which will be their demo, not bad for a retired old fart. [coffee]

You guys inspired me to quite whining and go for a ride. It was 60 degrees here. Nice day, but the pavement was very cool and a bit slick.
Had a blast though and put about 80 miles in before coming home.

Great T-Day eve for me!

Here in Southeastern, Ohio it was a week of sun and temps of 70 degrees up to Nov.,14.

Ever since , we've had 2 weeks of temps in the range of 11 - to  40 degrees with only a few days when the sun shined.

It is suppose to get up to 49 tomorrow which will happen about 3:30 and dark at 5:00pm, starting out at 23 degrees.

It was snowing off and on all day yesterday.

Winter sucks for a person who has lived in 7 decades of Winter.

I may go for a short ride tomorrow. Don't imagine there will be much traffic or cops to deal with.

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and hope you are all here Friday.    Dolph

Uhm okay, I'll try.

Last Sunday in Belfair, WA the "check engine" light came on while I was pulled over in neutral swapping the map direction pages in my tankbag.  Shut it off,  back on, the light was still there.  Shut if off longer, turned back on--and the light was gone.

Friday I rode the bike in to work so I could stop by the dealership on the way home to have the code read.  Speed sensor failure, but as it got better, we're not going to worry about it.

Sorry...the bike's been too reliable to make for interesting forum reading.  [thumbsup]

What a bummer saturday turned out, bloody foggy and -2 degrees, plus a liberal coating of salt. Sundays even colder but went over to the ducati dealers in the car and had a good look at and sit on the new 1100s monster. It's a little bit taller than the 696 but i still felt comfortable even with my 28in inside leg and it also feels a bit more roomy. The red with gold wheels looks the dog's but i'm not quite certain about the white with gold wheels.
First thing in the morning off to the bike show  [thumbsup]

Here in oregon usually the day starts out around 30 degrees, and tops out around high 40's. Throw in alot of rain and slick roads and im about ready myself to throw in the towell this season. It only goes downhill from here til about April.

Had to run up north of Minneapolis last night, my wife was driving and asked, "Is that a motorcycle up there?" Sure enough there was someone riding on the freeway 70+ mph and it was only like 15 degrees (F). I didn't get a good look at it in the dark when we passed. I hope he stayed warm.

Almost hit 60 yesterday, but the wind was so bad it knocked a  sign off an overpass on the highway here. Mornings are about 30-35. My neighbor rides to work every morning. He tells me it's mental. I tell him HE'S mental.

I usually ride to work, but I tend to avoid riding when the pavement has this slippery white & clear stuff on it.  I'll resume riding to work in the teens (F) tomorrow.  Then I can have another near miss on the 207º exit ramp and lose the front for a split second as about to I'm merge into traffic ~

Riding in teens... how can still type with your frozen fingers after doing that? Or is there someone typing for you now?  :o

Your body is 70% water. There's a message in that 10F temp. God doesn't want people to live places that water freezes half the year. ;D
