A friend just bought this gsxr. Help me convince him that the suspension may have been lowered a bit, and that this is freakin' dangerous [bang]

Is someone on his shoulders? Buy new I always say - unless I don't, say...whatever
Bad juju. Get that bike back to stock ASAP. Lower it to drag race it... OK, sure. But why radically lower it, don't race it and then leave it semi stock? Puzzling evidence. Something is not right with this picture. Did he really know the previous owner? Maybe that could shead some light. It's got the Yosh "bling" slip-on exhausts... maybe that says it all. :P
The tripples are very low on the forks, that can't be normal (=proof?)
Nice Gixxer protective pants and boots [laugh]
:o Does the bike turn?
We have insisted that he take it to the dealer to get it fixed. I am fairly sure that he bought it from a dealer in this condition. I will have more info tomorrow. It is scary that a bike could be sold set up like this!
Are the forks strapped down for drag racing?
It looks like that thing would bottom out on the crest of a small hill. The forks look to be about 3" out of the triples and there seems to be only about 2" of ground clearance for the belly fairing. I bet a panic stop would make the front wheel rub the hell out of the nose cone or bottom triple and the chin of the belly pan to eat asphalt.
I bet they sold him that a 320mm tire would look badass on that as well [laugh]
wow... just wow.... Is this your friend's first bike?

Damn, I can understand how someone without bike knowledge would fall for that, but someone experienced? maybe he was high ???
looks like that would be pretty damn dangerous to drive on the street....
i think this underscores the need for us to have a suspension set-up party in the near future...

Yes
I believe that we may have encouraged him to fix the issue. That, and he high centered on a speed bump at work today [laugh] [laugh]

Is the guy to the left sporting a "3R" branded bullet proof vest? We only have LSD sweater-vests. [laugh]

If you buy Japanese you can afford those sort of accesories ! [laugh]
In reference to the photo I still think there should be a LSD hand sign so that DFWM'ers can say "hey" to each other on the street if they don't already know each other. Not a gang sign because there is just about everything wrong with that !
At least the dudes in the pic have not lowered their bikes and there is a semblance of protective gear. [thumbsup] I too am surprised a dealer would sell a used bike with that set up. I'm sure just ditching the rear lowering link and slipping the stanchion tubes back to normal in the triple clamps will solve everything. I hear that Suzuki makes some very nice motorbikes. [laugh]

No Isnt....
Tell your friend to put the stock dogbones back and raise the forks up....
After he does this and visit some trackdays few bikes will be able to keep up with his K7/K8... this is a very fast machine!!!! [bow_down]
