So I have had a Bonnie for about a year and it was just too big, unwieldy, I don't know. I didn't handle like my real bike. (I ride and have raced bicycles). So I test drove the 696 and loved it. Got it on a Friday and Saturday after 120 of the most fun miles ever, I entered THE turn in my county that eats bikes (moto and pedal) on the WORST line ever, into a wet decreasing radius turn. I was tired and getting hungry and just plain frikking forgot about this corner. STUPID. [bang]
So I laid it down. My husband was in front of me (with our daughter riding w/him) and saw me go down in his rear view mirror. Not good. I was FINE (bruised and banged but thank heaven for good gear). The bike, not so much. Glad I got the engine sliders, but the shifter and peg broke off (which made for an interesting ride to the shop), tank cover scratched, windscreen broke, both mirrors broke, etc.
The insurance co. wants to total it out, but we are working to try to get it fixed so I can be up and running again. Good lesson learned. I'm a bit embarrassed to introduce myself with a crash post, but hey, shit happens.
Looking forward to learning a lot more from you all. ;D
EDIT:
Maybe I should read the "guide" to introductions before I introduce:

Vespa to Bonnie to Monster....
Welcome!
Check out the Women's forum (Under Local Listings) if you get a chance. [beer]
Hey Sarah! The local monster riders were in your neck of the woods today. Keep on eye on the local board (which I see you've found already) for rides, events, meet-ups, races, etc.
Sorry to hear about the crash, but you've got a good perspective on it. You weren't too jacked up and bikes can--and should--be fixed. With shiny aftermarket bits. ;D
Ride safe. [moto]
Sorry to hear about your mishap. I see you went from Vespa to Bonnie to Monster. Hope you still have your Vespa. I thought about selling mine, but ended up keeping it for days when I'm lazy.
Hope to see you back up and riding soon!
welcome sarah!
sorry about the crash, but i bet you're back in the saddle in no time.
psst.......watch out for spidey..........
That blows! :o
Glad you're okay. Hope you're back on 2 wheels quickly. Must have been pretty scary for your husband to have to see.
Welcome to The Forum! There's a TON of knowledge here, and a smattering of opinion, too. ;D
Sorry about the crash, but you sound like you're handling it really well. Could have been way worse...Get back on as soon as you can. [thumbsup]
Welcome Sarah, sorry to hear about your crash, but glad that your gear protected you. :)
I see that you already found the Women's Forum and the MOB already. [thumbsup] Hope to meet you at a local event soon. There are a few of us bicyclists in the group too.
