There are a few of us gathering at 9:30 am this coming Saturday, December 20th to go to the International Motorcycle Show (thanks jimbo for the coupons!).
9:30 am - Meet at Le Boulange on Hayes & Octavia in SF for coffee/breakfast bun (it's very close to the onramp to the freeway)
10:30 am - Leave for IMS, San Mateo
If someone wants to suggest a meeting place for lunch at the Show, please post up since this will be my first time attending.
Have fun guys, BikerGoddess and I will be in NY.

There are a few of us gathering at 10 am this coming Saturday, December 20th to go to the International Motorcycle Show (thanks jimbo for the coupons!). How about meeting at Zeitgeist? I'm riding if it's not raining but will drive otherwise (I know I'm a woos...) Anyone else planning on going around that time? Shall we plan a DMF meet either in SF or at IMS?
I've already made plans to ride out with a few scooter buddies Saturday, so hopefully I will get a chance to meet all of you at IMS. Like the Munroe's thingy, if you can have some DMF emblem, patch, duct tape, er anything so I can tell who's who, that would be great.
CharliesAngel: I'm in the same boat. If it rains, I'm going to drive. And if my gimpy friend can't ride by next week (recovering from a broken leg), I'll definitely drive in.
As of now Zeitgeist for Thurs looks good, so maybe I'll meet everyone before Sat.
I'm in for riding/driving. Whatever gets me down to sit on every bike there. [thumbsup] [moto]
I'm in.
I know from speaking to SMDUC & Jacoby that they too were planning to attend.
I'm driving (full wuss here) and plan to arrive about 10:30.
Someone brought up a good point, i.e. having some coffee/breakfast bun prior to our ride down to San Mateo. Since the Zeitgeist probably won't be open that early, I propose that we meet at La Boulange on the corner of Hayes & Octavia at 9:30 am if you want to eat/drink something. Kickstands up or At the Wheel at 10:30 am for IMS.
I'm modifying my original thread to incorporate the new meeting location and time.
Also, I've never been to the IMS so have no idea how feasible it will even be for us to stay together after we get there...from experience, it's hard enough keeping riders to stick to one route on group rides so I have a feeling that we will more than likely disperse after we get there... Maybe someone who has been to it can suggest a meeting place for lunch there and whoever wants to can meet / reconvene at that location???

It will be far worse keeping people together at the show. Just set a meeting place/time.

That is why I'm just going to suggest a pre-IMS ride/time to San Mateo. ;D [laugh]
as meeting mobsters @ munroe's party on sat did not seem to work (except where folks already knew each other, so they knew who to look for) ... i suggest that all attending mobsters wear gang colors, to represent to the peeps. 8)

You mean wear the t-shirts that DTM had made for us (with the old DML logo on the back)??? Actually, I like what Juan did to his DML t-shirt. He got some black tape and put a big "X" over the other logo... [laugh]
Wish mine fit better...it's HUGE on me... have tried to shrink it in the dryer but to no avail...hence why I don't really wear it.
I'll be riding there Saturday from the East Bay (if it's dry that day), but since it opens at 9:30 I want to get there earlier than that. I'll probably leave Pleasanton between 8:00 and 8:30. I hope to sign up for a few demo rides this year and I want to sign up before all the slots are gone for the day. Gotta try out an XR1200 and maybe a few KTM models.
What has worked in the past to get together at the show is to meet at the Ducati booth at a certain time. There aren't a lot of good choices for food, so usually you have to make do with a hot dog or hamburger at one of the inside food places, or possibly slightly more variety at one of the outside food spots. It's always difficult to find seating there for a group of any size.
I'm still deciding between my Ducati Monster T-shirt with the DML logo on the back or my Triumph T-shirt that I was given for taking a test ride on a Rocket III. ;D
Wish I could ride down w/ a few of you guys, but am taking the car w/ two of my kiddos to check out the show. Hope to see some of you there. Will be getting there around 9:30 when it starts.
Later
Sounds like we should plan a meeting time at the Ducati booth, wearing MOB t-shirts if you got 'em.
Anybody heading up from south of San Mateo? I'm in Mountain View. We can all meet at Alice's even.

There's a place not too far across the tracks from the moto show grounds called the Swingin' Door. Depending on which way you come in, you can't miss it as you'll see the Union Jack painted on the outside.
I used to go when it was the previous Prince of Wales, this British pub serves up the usual, well, British pub fare. :o Check out the menu here (http://www.theswingindoor.com/Brit_pub.html) and map here (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=106+E+25th+Ave+San+Mateo,+CA+94403&fb=1&geocode=7832055926600770168,37.545080,-122.305385&oi=manybox&ct=14&cd=1&resnum=7). They were/are known for their habeñero burger and fish and chips, and has a patio if the weather's good. Been a while since I've visited however.
They also have dueling pianos upstairs on weekend nights if anyone's hanging around that long.

I went to the Long Beach show and found an absolute steal on 2009 Shoei lids. So yes, maybe consider a cage for the shopping bags.

+1.
I couldn't agree more. You'll see once you get there why this is so.
So far the weather looks promising on Saturday. If I ride instead of caging it, I will spend less money due to lack of storage. ;)
Out. Work. Work always seems to get in the way of play time... why is that?
Event added to the MOB Calendar (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=16326.0). For future events, post up in the Calendar and it'll get added.

How was that rocket III Scott? It's 1 big son of a gun. Seems like a cross between a hd and one of those v-8 bikes, forgot the brand. I also would like to ride the new sporty but think it's gonna be hard to get a ride, that's if they are gonna offer 1 at all.

The Rocket III was a lot nicer than I expected. Totally smooth and torque like you can't believe. Once you're moving you can just leave it in 5th gear and still get strong acceleration. The biggest thing I didn't like about it was the cruiser riding position. Feet a little too far forward and torso a bit too upright. It would be an excellent big bike to ride at a relaxed pace.
Heading down Sat a.m., likely there when doors open at 9:30
Swingin' Door sounds good for lunch!
FYI - if you buy tix online, use promo code "1114002" you can get tix for $9 & print them up ahead of show (vs. $13 at the door)
Anyone leaving from the Fremont Area that I can either cage over with or ride pregnant dog with ;D
Now that I've met some of you, I'll know who to look for. See ya Sat!
So how was the show?
I'm stuck in LA. :'(

stay in la la land ... the show was ho-hum at best.
This was my first IMS and losing virginity wasn't too painful. But I went in with little expectations of climaxing, so when it didn't happen I wasn't too disappointed. :D

I agree, I think that the show was a bit dissapointing compared to years passed.

This was also my first time going to IMS. I think I got too caught up in the social aspects of trying to coordinate people... Have. To. Stop. Being. Cruise Director.
I mostly just saw Mattb's and Pierre's legs since I was on my BB the whole time... ;D [roll]
I really liked sitting on the Aprilia RSV 1000 (in white needless to say...)...wish they had test rides for this one... but I'm still in love with the 1098s...
so francis, can we expect to see you on a hypertard soon? [thumbsup]

you are not going crazy (at least not from your statement below) ... every year, this show gets weaker and weaker ... and i have been attending since 2000.
if you want maximum coolness, you have to attend the eicma show in milan in november .... now THATS a bike show.

I ended up asking some dude in a dark brown leather motorcycle jacket, white shirt, jeans and dress shoes for directions at the IMS. Turns out he is the PR guy for the Show. So I asked him if he rides to which he replied yes. I then asked him if he rode to the Show in the dress shoes he was wearing to which he replied "Yes." My next question just killed his prior two responses...I asked him what he rides to which he responded that he just passed his MSF and might buy a Kawi Ninja... So some dude that lied about riding there is organizing the show...awesome! [clap] [popcorn]

HUGE, disappointment. If it wasn't for the Streetfighter the RSD 696 and the new Monsters(somewhat) it would have been a total bust for me. The first time I really wanted to take a better look at (flame suit on) a VRod, HD doesn't even show!! [puke] [puke]

I was there with some friends Saturday afternoon. And I agree that it wasn't the greatest show. But I was happy to discover that I can actually put both feet on the ground while sitting on quite a few of the new models. In previous years that hasn't been the case. I saw only one bike that I came even close to liking as much as my Monster, though.
