A friend of mine has this- anyone know anything about a CB550?
Thanks ;D
I do if it's a CB550, never heard of a CRB550. ;D Nice old school air cooled 2 valve/cylinder in-line four. The best of the lot was the CB400F introduced in '75. First real factory cafe bike out of Japan. Real collectors model now. Had a friend that collected them.
is it blue and all cafe'd out and in less than pristine shape? i almost bought a 74 CB550 about a year back from a guy in plano somewhere...i kind of regret not getting it.

he wanted about $2.5k i think. but it wasn't perfect...it looked more like your true cafe bike...bulletproof. damn sexy bike it was.
That actually was the first street bike I ever rode. My old neighbor in N.Y. had one.
It felt pretty good until I got it off the street and onto the lawn... [moto]
;D
that's a 400 but you can make a 550 to look like that

love the old school cafe look. i'd get it get some gooles and a leather helmet and just cruise around with a cigarette in my mouth.
I used to have a 74 cb750. I'm not sure if this is true of the 550 as well, but the 750 was notorious for electrical gremlins.
Also, installing an electronic ignition (by dynacoils or something like that) made the bike run much smoother and start much easier. Just a heads up.

Yep, thanks. Both my Nortons had been converted to Boyer electronic ignitions, & I think my Toaster has Boyer as well. Big improvement ;D
