Cranked up first time let it run about 10 min, put in gear, small lurch, then died. Gauges sweep, sounds like fuel pump primes, when I push the start all I get is a noise under the seat kinda like when you first cut the key on and the gauges sweep. I have checked all fuses and connections I know of, tried cranking in gear with clutch engaged with stand up all of these in variations. Immobilizer light blinks when off goes off when switch is on. Starter? Relay? Kill Switch? How do I weed out? :'(
This Sucks [drink]
Thanks

Great now my dryer broke. Call me lucky. [thumbsup]
start with the easy stuff first.
bypass the sidestand switch and see if it starts. to do this follow the sidestand switch up to the connector, then use a paperclip to connect the two wires on the wiring harness side (disconnect the switch).
see if that gets it started, after that i would also check the voltage at your battery. many starting issues can be traced back to this simple problem.
Your bike also has an imobiizer so make sure you do not have any thing that will interfere with the antenna signal, like a mobil speedpass or another key from your bike.
also try removing the key and waiting a few moments and then re-insert the key and see if it helps.
good luck
Ducati key only key on me and have tried removing the key and re-inserting it did not work have not tried to bypass stand switch. I will try tomorrow after work. Having to put belt on dryer to appease the wife.
Thank you for the response. I will post after I try suggestions. [bow_down]
Not stand. What else can I try?
Thanks
You say you here a noise? If it is, you probably have either have a bad solenoid or a week battery. Make sure the bike is in neutral and bypass the solenoid. Do you have a volt meter?
Headlight is bright would it dim with drained battery. Where is solenoid and how do you bypass it? Dont have a volt meter. What is the best to get. Sorry for mechanical ignorance but like to learn.
Thanks
Didn't mention in first post. Does not turn over.
Thanks

The solenoid resides under the tank on the left side. Follow the positive battery cable until you come to a small metal can with another heavy cable that goes to the starter. That is the solenoid. It's job is to allow current to go to the starter. If you take a heavy piece of metal like a pair of pliers or a wire of equal thickness and use that to make a connection between the two wires you have bypassed the solenoid and, if it now cranks, the solenoid or the solenoid control circuit is at fault. Like I said, make sure the bike is in neutral. Also, do not allow whatever you use to bypass the solenoid to touch metal, very bad things will happen.
As far as a meter, a cheapo Radio Shack digital multimeter or equivalent will be fine.
Thanks will attempt tomorrow after workn.
Tested battery with meter read 12.04. Bought tender before I went out of town for christmas. Put on tend while gone. Came back and it cranks!!!!!!! [bang]
Thanks
My 05 was doing the same thing as you first explained. It was the fuel pump. Try starting it again and see if it still starts. It did everything that you first explained and I thought that I had it fixed since it just started one day, however it didn't 2 days later. I replaced the fuel pump and think that the problem is solved now, after 2 pushes down the block back to my garage. And it did all the motions including the fuel pump sounding like it was priming, it wasn't. Just trying to save you the hassle of it not starting again.

So far its been doing fine even been out riding a few times. Hope it was just low battery but i'll keep the info in mind. Thanks [moto]
