I am interested in getting a cover for my 696. The ducati branded one is great, but a little pricey. What should I look for when purchasing a cover. It will not be outdoors but in my garage. Just trying to keep the dust off during the winter. Will having the bike on stands affect putting a cover on?
Just make sure the cover is breathable. Don't want to trip any moisture over a long period of time.
+1 to T. Rush's comment: breathable. I keep my bikes in a garage, and I would not cover them because of the condensation that appears nearly every day.
A fitted king-size bed sheet (bottom one) actually fits pretty good. The elastic hooks under the front fender and the other end falls all the way over the rear and pipes. Cotton, so it does not scratch and is breathable. Keeps the dust off but no condensation, and cheap.
+1 on the fitted sheet. Super cheap and does the trick fo shure ;D

Oh, and BTW, a fitted sheet is infinitely superior to shitted feet.
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41hc61HZRvL._AA280_.jpg) | I just bought two of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OVE9OS (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OVE9OS) a couple months back. They were $20 each then, now looks like the Sport (monster) size is down to $12.95! :o They're very good for the price an fit the monsters perfectly. Has elasticized bottom and fits down over fork ends and mufflers. Two bungies underneath to keep it in place, but they're not even really needed. Breathable too. |

[laugh] [laugh] Thanx.
top 10 reasons to use the sheet/blanket approach:
Everyone has a spare sheet
Everyone has a sheet that they no longer use
Everyone has a sheet that is one of a matched set that your ex took
everyone has tastes that change over the years and those old sheets don't match your decor anymore
Recycling is great
Everyone has more stuff than they need and most of its in the garage anyway
Everyone knows that cotton breathes so no condensation
Everyone has a sheet large enough to cover entire bike
Everyone has a fluffy pink blanket that your mother in law bought for you 3 xmas's ago that you finally find a use for
And finally
Using the new sheets your missus bought on sale at Target last week is a really great way TO PISS HER OFF! [laugh]
Excellent advice! I'm in the situation as golgofett.
I guess I can pull-off one of the old sheets covering the couch. [laugh]
I have a cover, but would rather use a sheet. The cover I have is too heavy, stiff, and tight fitting, so it is a struggle putting it on and off. I would use a cover more often if it was easier to just drape it on.

+1 the fitted sheet.
you could buy something fancy but they you would just look like a poser if anybody who actually knew anything was ever in your garage.
all the cool kids use a sheet. I have a really ugly beige and dark brown leopard print fitted queen...that rocks the garage all winter long
