Well this seemed to work quite well last year. By setting a few dates up front, people can add them to their diaries early and plan around it rather than getting a last minute call and being unable to make it. Obviously this does not rule out the last minute 'unplanned' ride but should give us the chance to get quite a few Monsters together for the occasional day of fun.
This does not intend to take away from the proposed 'Monster Family Picnic Day' and would be in addition to the WSBK soiree ... plus we still need to re-schedule Big T's MTB ride.
Granted we have some variety in machines and rider ability, but these days are not about that - everybody generally knows their relative place in the group and can ride within their limits. As everybody knows what to expect from the outset, it becomes more of a social occassion (read 'big group') and the day is conducted accordingly - so the distances are not too long and sub-groups emerge without too great an impact on the larger group.
Last year, I think, the chosen day was the first Saturday of every month. Would this still be the preference for the masses?
This would give dates of:
7th February (Monster Beach Party?)
4th April
6th June (Queen's birthday weekend)
1st August
3rd October (labour day weekend) 26th September
5th December
Some of these dates are probably not advisable as Hugh will be called in for official duties - so we should skip the long weekends. December might also be a bit of a problem as it is normally a busy time family-wise. I have left June as is for now (we won't be able to make it [evil]), written October back to the end of September and left December to discuss viability at a later time.
I don't follow the racing or anything, so if there are any clashes you want/need to work around let me know.
There has been suggestions of a Sound-off Take 2, so it would be nice to incorporate that into one of these rides (Goldie, care to nominate a date?). Propsed routes/destinations can be planned for each separately if we can agree 'in principle' on the concept frst.
Soooo, whadiyarekon?
Special note for big & sydmonster: yeah they will start early, but it is only a few times thoughout the year.
Looks the goods, it did work well for most of us having dates in the diary so excuses have to be very good.
If this is open to nubies I would like to tag along , would be nice to put faces to the voices
I would put a vote in for Old Pac Hwy did a run up there last week, early ride with no cars
it was great, rode with a group of six fast riders on some big bikes SP2 R's Hyabusa and a Ducati motard, GSX etc and managed to keep them in view , well glimpses really ;).

Absolutely ... that's the idea.
Cheers Betty , I am restricted by that four letter word work which gets me early arvo's on the W/E but if there was a morning ride I would be very tempted to tag along and check out the view from behind ;D
Thanks Betty for being the ride date master this year.... [thumbsup]

Sounds good Betty. Even though I do work some Saturdays I can try to work around these.
Can I nominate August 1st as a Breakfast run to Bathurst
Nice and cold, brass monkey stuff, so it should be fun.

Betty, well done. I have them marked up for the year already. Cheers, ducsport [moto]
[clap] now that what we need. Awesome.
As usual, I'll be making as many as I can, family commitments permitting.
I'm also going to throw into the scheduling mix:
- Oz Monsters trip to the Snowy Mountains, at an appropriately cold time of year (waiting for snow to finalise!)
- Potential for a Moto GP adventure, much like the WSBK we're organising at the moment.
Great stuff Betty, now all I have to get is a new bike!
Sounds good to me, very keen for a ride.

The day was discussed before the calendar was set for last year, as Saturday was selected then, I was just following suit.
I think it was because some people worked Sunday, fewer people were effected by kids sport and getting back from 'wherever' is easier on a Saturday ... oh, and church. Could be wrong though.
Does the fact that nobody else has questioned the Sat. mean that you would all prefer the Sat.?
Obvioulsy won't be able to keep everybody happy. Jukie and I would generally be unavailable on the first Sunday of the month.
I'm easy for Sat or Sun, well... until Nemo is old enough for sports ...
This is my kids sports! (me being the kid)
So I am fine for whichever day.
I'm in for most of those dates, I love a good monster ride. :)
don't forget Steph too

Saturday is busy for me with 4 little Danno's doing sport but hey, they're not the only ones who should be able to get out there an play! At least thats my excuse. Surely 1 in 8 Saturdays should be declared 'ride days'
OK If anyone interested in a ride to Robertson via RNP and MP on Saturday 24th [moto] ,Goldfish and I will be departing from Kirrawee shell servo at 8.15 am.It will be a leisurely ride as I am trying to gauge my mileage for the SBK trip .All welcome. ride safe
(double demerits [leo])
good ride today - Dock, Big Al and me were joined by a couple of blokes I rode to the wsbk round last year, who also brought a couple extra mates.
it was good temp on the way down through the park, but the ride back into Syd was a killer - low 40's ambient temp.
was glad to get the riding gear off!
bikes today: 2 monsters, a multistroode, a speed triple, a guzzi griso, a gixer 1000 and a spada - what an mixed bunch!
and even better, we think that Dock's bike should do 200kms to the tank in "touring mode" [clap] - the only problem is that Dock's right wrist has no conception of what touring mode is [cheeky]
Yeh was a great day took it nice and easy on the way there. [moto]
so its confirmed the s4rs should do 200km +, I traveled 145km on 7 ltr's, i normally get the orange light when i have used 9 ltr's so that's 186 km still have 2 usable ltr's @ 20.7 km/L that makes 227km whooo hooo [thumbsup]
Now the wrist problem ......I guess its still in WOT mode so i should get it under controll by the departure date [thumbsup]
4th April is fast approaching!
So what's the plan peoples?
Well now that the touring bug has hit.
How far do you wanna go and which direction?
Brown Mtn was excellent even with low cloud and zero vis halfway up.
Or we could go Sth to Kangaroo Valley via Pearsons lane down Cambawarra Mtn (I think that what it's called)

Yeah, but I seem to recall your bike dripping after EVERY fill, even when it was on the side stand. 1 extra litre, minus the 200ml overflow at each fill up = an extra 800ml in the tank.
But then we take into account my silky smooth throttle control vs your binary throttle that's been mentioned before (see the desmo tyre carnage / near high side discussion)
And then on the flip side, my poor bike needs to carry my athletic physique around [laugh] vs your pre-pubescent boy weight / height....
If you take these into account, then our mileage would be very similar, give or take... [cheeky]

Just read this about the Royal National Park:
"Just spoke with a Royal National park ranger and she informed me that the road works in the Natio is a mess! they are throwing gravel down for the weekend openings and the rain has turned it to a mud slick. During the week it is closed between Bundeena turn off and Garrie turn off. the second half from Waterfall enterance is covered in moss and slippery as."
Might want to check it out before getting the hammer down through there...

Wollombi Pub - My last three recent visits have ended up wwith 1.5 hour waits for lunch during peak hour. We may want to get there a little earlier than normal (12-12:30) if you are hungry for a feed.
Brett
He's got no confidence in riding it further than picking up the mail!
Think it's just going to be a cafe bike.
Cool Brett, is there anywhere else we can lunch at other than there?
Tea and Scones anywhere on the day trip?
So the list currently is-
Six95
Big T
Betty
Craigo
Matty
Goldfish (unsighted)
Anyone, anyone Bueller?
We could probably find another pub somewhere if that is what you were thinking?
Paxton or Ellalong, maybe somewhere like that ... I assume Craigo will have that new-fangled map thing with him so anything is possible.
Now I will type very quietly in case Sugar is reading this but the last time I came down Paynes Crossing Rd there was still a patch of dirt (although they were working in the area so maybe that has changed [laugh]) ... if we were to head out through Cessnock (instead of straight into Wollombi) Trev won't be able to make excuses to not do the Putty ;D
We have experienced a wait for food at Wollombi on a couple of occasions [roll]
i think i remember the wait in the wollombi pub before hhmmmm [roll]
Did someone say 'Bueller' ? Let me organise myself into some action and come along please

Absolutely !
Is it still Rouse Hill Maccas/Caltex?
What time?
If we are still undecided for lunch at the north end of putty we could potentially go to this..........

yeah that's where we'll meet, next to the eddddddamooouguaaaaaa pooob. Is that how you say it!
Looks like a nice stop for lunch.
If we are going to get up that far then we'd have to meet early-ish.
What time can you get there Betty? Or do you want to meet us out on the road someway up Nth-ish.
Well I have been told I will be going.
If I am going to ride with you guys (or more accurately, catch up to you sometime after you have stopped) ... I should be in from the beginning. You guys agree the appropriate time and if I have to leave a long time before the sun comes up I might re-consider then ;D
I wouldn't mind joining you guys for that run on the 1st August [moto]
Not sure if my wife will come or not. She has done Putty on her RS125 before and it's just had a new TPS put in and runs the best it ever has (ironic that happens just as i put it up for sale).

Okay how's 8:30 there for a 9am departure?
Is that too early, we can go a little later as it is a smaller group but then we might be heading home in the dark.

Hey Rob,
If Andy is still up for it, we may well meet the same place he and I met ages ago.
It's on Davies/Fairford Rd Padstow, I would say at about 7:30am.
Will then head up to the meeting point at Rouse Hill Maccas
Meeting time there is 8:30am for a 9am departure.

I guess we could say yes but it will most likely depend on the final roll call for the day.
The size of the group will set the pace of the day. But I would think/hope we can be in the Hunter by late morning
for a lunch date somewhere.
We can cut through Broke off the Putty and into Wine Country.

I don't know how you could handle riding with an open face helmet. The amount of bugs i had on my visor was crazy!
Besides, my last stack saw me hit the pavement face first, massive gouges on the visor which was ripped off and front of helmet scuffed to bits. If i had worn an open face helmet, i wouldn't have a face :o
My wife and i both have Arai Camo's. Nice, light helmet. I got both at Frasers Homebush (the helmet purchase is the only good experience i have had with them). $850 RRP and i got mine fro $650 and my wife's for $600. Bargain! My older helmets have always been AGV. They are a good fit for my melon.
Exactly, it all depends upon your Melon.
I had 4 lined up when I was buying again.
Shark, AGV, Shoei and Arai. Also went from wearing a medium to a small because I had never been fitted properly before.
As I said go see Wilson tell him, Matty with the red S4Rs sent you in and you will be fixed up well. [thumbsup]

This couldn't have anything to do with the 8 litres of fuel our 4 Testrastretta

No, no, he forced the fuel onto us. I only took it to make him feel good.
I guess it was lucky the petrol companies stopped supplying fuel so the shop ran out just before the fire was lit. Otherwise big kaboom!

Rob my last helmet was a Shark RSR2. I think it was the bees-knees. I replaced it after an accident with a Shoei which I don't think is as good. If you like the fit, get it as they are very lite, have an awesome visor that is 4mm thick and doesn't EVER fog up and all of the little things that you have to buy extra for the Shoei. I used it every day for 18 months commuting.
Good tip on buying helmets is to always get (look for) last years graphics as they usually discount the helmets by about $100 - 150 to get rid of them.

Pie shop, K.V. and beyond.
Or Bathurst area as the last time people went there wasn't many in attendance.
Start the thread.

This would give dates of:
7th February (Monster Beach Party?)
4th April
6th June (Queen's birthday weekend)
1st August
3rd October (labour day weekend) 26th September
5th December
Sooo, how about we drag the 5th forward a bit ... December is busy for most. What do you say about a combined:
. Regularish ride
. Christmas get together
. End of Movember celebration
... all on Sunday 29th November !?!?!
Apparently to Kangaroo Valley, what say ye?
Sounds Morvelous
Late Nov / Early Dec is cool - in fact, our Nov is probably busier than Dec, so I'd stay with early Dec - but that's only me (and the family of course!)
If we're doing a Chrissy thing, then a lunch is good - KV is ok, but I may need to opt out on the ride, as it's a long way for the family in the car without me.
Personally, I'd prefer a short blat ride, followed by a leichhardt lunch, but then again, that's only me.

This was the bit I was thinking about ... there won't be anything to see the week after
oh we can all hold off the razor for another week if we need to! well OK, maybe not.....
Saturday 5th December is busy for me, I'll understand if you go for a ride without me :'(
Refer to Christmas Dinner thread:

Time to resurrect this one I s'pose.
I'll start a new thread if there is some concensus on timing again. Attendances were not too bad last year so I will stick with the usual formula unless everybody objects.
So first Saturday of every second month?
Luckily (for you lot) this will mean I will not be holding you up in Feb as I will be Tourismo-ing ... but it will also mean you will be missing Jukie's exuberance as she will be exuber-ing all over the Taswegians.
Sooo where we going on Sat the 3rd of Jan [moto]
Any chance of doing something on Sunday? or does everyone go to church?
Double Demerits >:(
Would be safer to go to Church [roll]
Either day Sat/Sun is fine Marty.
Some have saturday kids sport during the year.
Some have family day on Sunday.
And yes Dez double d's until Monday 4th at midnight, so it would be safer to go the weekend after
expect for me who's at a track day on Saturday 9th, partly riding the Monster partly riding the 1198s trackie [clap]
Why dont we have a BBQ meet at the track matty?
Thanks for the info Rob/Matty [thumbsup]
clearly with my recently expunged speeding incident and being a recalcitrant [moto] and cant be trusted on public roads during double demerits I will make a hasty and quiet retreat on said date.
Church which one Rob ? Or should I just hide my keys [laugh]
