Title: Assen TT in 2010
Post by: Slag on January 15, 2009, 10:55:24 AM
I would REALLY like to travel to one of the European MotoGp or WSBK races in 2010.  Assen would be my #1 choice, but I am up to suggestions.  I know that this trip is over a year away and that 2010 race schedules are not yet set in stone, but we will need the time to really plan it out.  This also gives everyone time to get their finances in order.  Make no mistake, this would not be an inexpensive trip.

I picked Assen since several DFWM members are familiar with the area. It is also a VERY American friendly location.

Is anyone realistically interested in this?  I am going to start researching prices/group rates to see if we can do this trip for a reasonable amount of $$.

This would be one of those memories that you cherish for a lifetime, and would always regret if you missed it.  Think about it and let me know.

And don't forget to get your passports!

I am interested - but reality bites so I'm not sure how realistic it is !  :P

How long you cherish the memories would be in direct proportion to how long you spend in Amsterdam on the way in/out !  [bang]  [laugh]  ;D  :o  I'm sure RonR could provide us with the mathematical equation !  [bow_down]  [bacon]

Aerogeek will put together a sample itinerary and a $$ guesstimate in the next few days.  It really should not be TOO bad.  Airfare will be the biggest hit.  Economy will cost $700 to $900.  Business will be around $3500.  Hotels and food will depend on the exchange rate, but should be comparable to here.  We were not planning on renting cars, but could go in together if we needed one.  The train will be the best way to travel.

We will nail this down tonight and tomorrow, but $2500 will probably a good minimum for the  trip.

Did you consider the Mugello MotoGP?  It is the nearest track to Bologna and the Ducati Museum and factory.

I did consider Mugello, but Catie and I were planning on Assen for out 5th anniversary trip.  We just decided to go ahead and invite the whole group  [thumbsup]  Catie is familiar with the area, so it was a logical choice for us.  We are happy to look into all options  ;D

Hmmm, 2010 would be our 20th anniversary.  This might be just the ticket.  It would definitely save me the trouble of picking out another vacuum cleaner.

I would kill to go to Catalunya. Considering my sister is moving to spain next month, it actually seems feasible for me to go. Besides, the parties in Barcelona are only rivaled by the ones in Caracas.

I know this crew would have a shit ton of fun in spain.

Also I've always wanted to go to any of the Italy races. Considering my family owns part of a villa in Firenze, I don't know why I already haven't gone.

I'm pretty sure I could come up with accommodations for a medium sized group were we to go to Mugello.

Fly to London and got to Holland with Hovercraft then take the train to Assen... or rent a big Van (not sure if this going to work, you need professional lisence to drive Vans in Europe)

ill try to go as many Gp/SBK rounds in 2009 and 2010 since  i ll be a couple hours  away from most events... [popcorn]

parties in Malaga and Ibiza are better than Barcelona..........trust me......have pictures to prove it!
I have friends we could use for crash pads in Segovia, Madrid, Malaga and Madrid.  Just in case we rent bikes and make the rotation.

Any of the Euro races would be great, especially with an established group of hooligans.  Su and I did a spur of the moment trip to LeMans in '07,  and will never forget it.  2010 will be good timing for another I think  [thumbsup]

+1 This is definitely something I'm interested in attending. Not sure I'm 100% at this point but will be looking at what it will take to make it happen.
