I'm in Ottawa for work, for roughly three weeks it's looking like.
It is -35 degrees right now.
The only thing keeping me going is the thought of the wings down at smoke eaters (formerly Cluck U).
I'm fairly sure the sauce on their hottest wings can etch cement.
I want some. I NEED some.
Anyone care to join? I was thinking the 25th or so.
Also, this place is in Santa Clara, so yes, it is a hike, but it's worth it.
Can't get to Santa Clara for wings, but I just have to empathize after spending 4 years in MAINE for college. Freeze your nose hairs cold. Stay warm.
Shoot a message next time you guys go. [thumbsup] [bacon]
Cluck U wings are great! The hottest sauce is semi addicting because once you stop eating it hurts... so you just have to keep eating them
ps
they burn on the way out too :P

Yeah-even eating ice cream doesn't help, thus disproving my parents who always claimed "It all goes to the same place" when I picked through my food.

I was stationed in Maine for 3 years. Winters are brutal, but there's no place I'd rather be in the summer. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I'll take my once-every-two-years vacation there.

Stationed at Brunswick NAS by any chance?
Ottawa? Ever cold, eh?
I'm not too far from there and yet, I've never been. Let me know. I'm down for going. I have yet to do anything with anyone from this site.
At least you can catch the Capitals play the Senators on the 20th. When in Canada, you have to watch hockey:

And for being cold, I too was in Maine - for boarding school. I was in Bath right by the Iron Works. I did a weekend camping trip where it got to -60 with the wind chill. This was in 93-94... Most of my toes and fingers aren't frozen anymore.
I'm anti-hockey. Only thing one should put on ice is find liquor. :P
But yeah, wing night should still be on.

NSGA Winter Harbor. It wasn't the end of the world, but you could see it from there.
I spent a decade in Vermont.
I've seen -40 (the magic temperature where F and C meet)
There's a reason I live in California.

Snort! [laugh]
I'm thinking Saturday is an excellent day to eat myself sick. I should be down there around 7.

I ain't taking the challenge-I'm just going to eat the hottest wings they have and drink beer.
None of this is pretty-anyone taking pictures gets hot sauce in the eye.
I'm there. If the weather clears up I may take a short ride before because this place is about a mile from my house. My baby gets mad if I warm her up and only go a mile. :) I hate teasing her like that.
Sure sure-just look for a bunch of people who look like world class assholes. That'll be us.
in the 20 years i've been in sj, i haven't stopped by once at this fine establishment. unfortunately, i won't be making it this time aroudn either.
yo dan, this may be a good spot for thursday nights.

Saturday is tough for me but I second the Thursday meeting since I am on that side of the bay on that day.
Robert
Bump.
I'll be wearing a soon to be wing stained Ducati shirt, to help narrow it down.
How'd it go??
Or more importantly, how'd it go this morning? [laugh] [laugh]
Gotta get me some wings soon. :P
It was a fun mellow night. I'm glad I got a mini intro to some of the members - Mr and Mrs I and Dantheman. Next time we go, I have to make sure to get something a little more spicy. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you guys soon.
It was nice to meet you too Scott. :)
My friend and I just ordered the atomic 50 wing.
Atomic tastes like sweet and sour sauce. We asked for
Some nuclear on the side and it was more like a traditional
Hotwing sauce but it still was not hot :(
What do you normally order ?
Whatever is hottest.
Quite tasty, if you ignore that burning sensation.
Wash your hands before you pee. ;)
Dave gets the "Inferno" sauce. This one makes my eyes water and hair curl just sitting across the table from him. :o
Dan and Scott tried the atomic and also thought it was a bit sweet, maybe the "Traditional Death" next time?
I just had chips and salsa myself....
I definitely needed mine much more spicy than the Atomic. That was my first time there and I went for something in the middle to gauge what they consider hot. Atomic was really too sweet. Maybe I'll order some wings this weekend.
