Title: Which years and models swingarms will fit a 04 S4R?
Post by: sportskid1 on January 17, 2009, 02:35:44 PM
I had a freak failure on my 04 S4R and there is a chance that I might need a new swing arm.  Yah I was happy hear that.  I think I am going to try and look for a used one if I need to replace it and I was wondering which years and models will be a direct bolt on.  I have found one off a 07 S4Rs with the Ohlins shock that I might consider if it will fit.  Any one else have a spare swing arm lying around?

I believe all S*R are the same with exception of finish.

Good to hear.  That opens up the options.  I am assuming the shocks are all interchangeable as well.

Thanks for the help guys.  Looks like I am going to need quite a bit of work.  It turns out that the rubber crush drive washers that the sprocket pushes into had completely deteriorated leaving just the metal spaces floating around. These metal spacers worked themselves out and completely ground down my eccentric hub and then started grinding into my swingarm. Has anyone heard of this? Now I am left with a bike that needs a new eccentric hub and swingarm. Not happy right now.

Heard of it..god i wish they put squealer material on the cush drives like on brake pads.. Anything that would provide some warning wold help..its worth inspecting them when you do tire changes.

I don't know how true it is but I read that you can use a quick change rear sprocket carrier that has anti-backup tabs machined into it to mitigate the issue and keep it from happening again. It's a well known problem from my understanding.
