There's no reason not to do both, is there?
Maybe we do a south run, starting in Cronulla rather than Kirrawee....
Dock is seeing this as an opportunity to introduce like monded people to the forum. That's not a bad thing, me thinks...
We're trying to sort out some cards (who remembers them from the DML!) for the DMF and particulary the Oz Monsters forum..

Hey Rob,
If you hit up ducati.com.au you'll find the details.
Think we might head out after the Monster party as it's a 9am start I think.
Thanks Matty will do.
Rob
There is a half page spread in the latest two wheels about the party.
I'll most likely go - and pillion the wifey, Hopefully the count is early I have to kick on to Top Gear Live at Acer Arena after.
I've just registered. I'm thinking of asking my daughter along. She might get a kick out of a pillion ride to the beach! [moto]
iam thinking of going but of course no riding for me for a long while yet, so might come down in the cage, have to wait and see ???
I've heard that the head count will be around 1pm.

thought this might be useful ???
Thanks! [coffee]
Hi all.
I'm thinking of riding up from Melbourne with a fellow Ducatista.
I wonder if anyone could recommend good motel(s) in the areas surrounding Cronulla.
Thanks in advance.
G
There is a Rydges in Cronulla but it is quite old.
There is also a Quest apartments right near the beach too which is quite new.
Hopes this helps you out. [thumbsup]
Rob
Thanks Rob.
I saw those on the web and my mate questioned whether we may be able to get lower price accomodation if we looked in the surrounding areas; perhaps further away from the beach.
I've got a mate in Richmond, but it is a fair way away.
Cheers,
G
Hey G,
Have a look at Caringbah, Miranda, Kirrawee, Sutherland, Woolaware (on the Kingsway).
You should be able to find cheaper Accomm in these suburbs that are all close to Cronulla.
Thanks Matty.
I'm checking out Miranda...

Hi Dockstrada.
We will stay in Canberra on the first (Thursday) night and head out to the Coast. In short, it will depend on when we leave and how long it takes to ride up the coast and through the RNP on the Friday. Haven't ridden that road yet. We'll be staying in Cronulla. :)
The plans are only rough at this stage as we only started to concieve the trip on Saturday. ;) Before that I wasn't sure if I'd make it.
I am in, Anyone else from North West heading in want to hook up for the commute?
c'mon Tri, hope you're coming early for a southern run - the RNP and mount keira are nice and cool that time of morning!

I always thought they were dreamin'.
Does anybody actually know how many Monsters have been sold in Australia/NSW/Sydney? I was always reckoning 400+ would be a fair percentage ... regardless of how many are still on the road, local, know about the event, give a rats.

I think it might be a safer bet to catch up with you on the Saturday pre-Beach Part Ride.
On Friday 6th Feb, we'll probably leave Canberra at 8 am at the latest. Go out to the coast via Braidwood. Drop in on Wollongong Ducati on the way. Head through RNP. So, I'm only guessing that we'll be in Cronulla between 1 and 2 pm on Friday.
Cheers,
G

I don't think I'll be able to do the early morning ride anymore, so will just come down for a swim (I'll still ride down).
I will be meeting up with another rider near the Harbour Bridge at 10 so around 11
for a butchers hook then a swim.

G'day Spider.
Transport section to Cann River. I had a ball on the Cann River to Bombala section. One of the factors that made it so enjoyable was the roadsurface and it's lack of leaf litter and gravel (for that day at least ;) ) There are some tighter corners on this road and i was revisiting Superbike School Level 1 Quicksteering techniques...
The road up around Cooma to Canberra enabled relatively high speed work on more sweeper type roads.
The second day saw us heading out towards Braidwood. We had tossed up a road just before Braidwood, but I decided against it on the spur of the moment when I heard that it had 35km of dirt. Got nervous about not making it there for the Monster count. In the end we took the King's Highway (I think) out to Bateman's Bay. Now that was Awesome! Lotsa downhill hairpins and such like. To give you an idea of the gradient; there are run-offs for vehicles towing caravans in the event of brake failure.
Took a wrong turn and ended up Mt Keira on our way to Frasers Wollongong (Fairy Meadow). That was a nice road too; very twisty and a little bumpy in places.
After that we road out to the coast. We wanted to check out the Seacliff Bridge: very cool. Even though the speed limit is fairly low the corners, cambers and spectacular scenery made this ride a pleasure. Finally, we rode through the Royal National Park. I thought it was paradise. Luscious green canopy over a great road. Luckily, we rode it on the Friday afternoon on the way in. I get the imrpession that with it's relatively close proximity to Sydney, it would be a highly popular road on the weekend. ;)
The rest was transport stage.

Friday Canberra - Cronulla 400ish
Saturday Cronulla to Concord & Test Ride - 50km
Sunday Cronulla - Melbourne 970km
I'd better check out those airhawk thingys. ;p
sargent seat is all you need my friend!
we're going to do a lot of the roads you're talking about - tho I'm guessing the scenery in some parts is going to be a little different after all the fires.
I'm looking forward to the Cann River to Bombala, Bombala to Eden, Browns Mountain, The kings highway, great alpine road, the alpine way, the spurs..... damn I'm getting pretty excited about the whole damn trip!

I had a Corbin seat on my old Monster and recently, I had been considering a DP touring seat. But, generally I get away with doing lots of kms on the standard seat.
I should mention that there was a little bit of roadwork going on the King's Highway, but not enough to spoil the pleasure.
