I have been riding with the same group of guys for sometime now. But as responsibilities and bikes and riding habits change I find that I am riding with these guys less often. It can be hard to find new people to ride with and it can take time to get comfortable with other riders.
With those things in mind and with the spring only a few months away I was hoping to put together a group of like minded riders who I can ride with more often. I want to organize a new crew of riding buds.
My thought is putting together a group of 4 to 6 Ducati owners, preferably with some riding experience, male or female, who would be interested in Sunday rides of moderate to brisk pace, running 150-250 miles a day with a breakfast or lunch stop included. Start times would be early (but not TOO early) and end times a bit after lunch. They’ll be no pressure to keep up, it’ll be strictly ride your own ride, and we’ll follow “the Paceâ€, and swap leaders often.
I’m in northern NJ and usually ride north to the Catskills and west to the Port Jervis area but I’m always looking for new roads and routes. Everyone will be encouraged to plan routes and offer suggestions as to places to go and roads to ride. If things progress well we might even be able to do group participation in DESMO rides, track days or charity runs.
If you’re interested please post up or feel free to drop me an E mail. I hope to get in touch with anyone who’s interested in order to do a beer and burger meet prior to the season starting. I’m looking forward to hearing back from some people soon, and looking forward to the upcoming season.

Me and another member here and a Buell owner (soon to be 999) ride together pretty often on sundays... but then i started getting deeper in my engineering cirriculum and hes just started his phd program, so needless to say, when there is no work to be done, there will be riding. We usually do 400miles though. Not sure what you guys have in mind ( i have not ridden up in catskills) but i usually like to ride far away and just sit and get the make the beast with two backs away from the city for a while. But thats just me.
Eitherway, im down for a ride man! just post up the event and i guess we can get something rolling as people come a long. But dont count on it being big though. People from here are always knee deep in their own lives, since it is mostly NYC, LI and NJ and riding regularly isnt always an option.
Im ready to roll around march.
I could be up for the Catskills bit, I'm in need of new riding buds too. I'll be on a Triumph though... [moto]
Hey Jimi, I'm pretty sure I met you once at Hirams, I had the black s2r with the exhaust removed. This sounds good as I cant really commit an entire day like GC and the "usual suspects." My typical weekend rides are about the same distances you're talking about, good with whatever pace. Let me know when the weather gets warm.

Catskiills, a meal, brisk pace, done early afternoon,,,
Sounds ideal [thumbsup] Let's make it happen.
Kevin
When I get them off I am up to riding on a Sunday here and there.
I should be able to join you folks on some rides, in addition to the track day(s) and DESMO rides I'm planning to do this coming warm riding/track season. [thumbsup] [moto]
Im always in for a weekend ride. Let's make it happen ........
Just post up when you want to go.
I tend to ride early and end early, but maybe we can hook up for some rides.

Wow,
I check back in a few days and low and behold there are responses, nice.
So I guess there's some intrest in what I'm suggesting, so what I'd like to do from here is ask that all the people who might be interested please e mail me.
Include you name, screen name, location, kind of bike, experience level, and a contact phone number.
The address is:
amessage4jimi@gmail.com
This way I will have everyone's contact info and will know how to get in touch once the season starts.
I'm thinking a first mellow short ride just to get comfortalbe might be in the cards for late April.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone and getting a good group together for rides this season.
jimi
I'm down to ride for those times i can't pull a 500mile plus day [thumbsup]
Hey Jimi, glad you found your way to DMF.
I'm still around. And still interested.
Hope all is well.
Mike
Jimmy Boy I am down for a ride as well. 26 y/o and outta Westfield NJ.
If not at the track, we're around for a ride almost any sunday. [thumbsup]
It was really nice today and should be in 50's tomorrow. Anyone is up for a ride?
If anyone wants to meet up on the NJ/PA border, give me a holler. Summetime tends to be a ride to Van Sant Airport, then to Milton NJ. We could meet up and ride for a couple of hours!!!
laura (sans ducati. *sigh*)

ohhh...and there's a good bbq place just past lackenwaxen
Such a silly name... [roll]
little diversion here..
gonna try to get my ass out there this spring/summer-- so I'll be watching this thread.
by the way, was on the roads between Hunter and Wyndham this weekend making a serious mental note to get back there on the bike.
23A
yeah, a 23A's nice road. but I was thinking about 296 which I took to get from Hunter to Wyndham-- it cuts through the mountains and is a very nice road wtih 35mph twisties.
Yeah, I've ridden it, there are better roads up there.

Any suggestions you care to share?
I can share all sorts of suggestions.
Oh, you mean roads... ;)
Here's some ideas, you can catch 296 if you want but IMO there are like 2 or 3 good corners in that road.
Exciting map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=I-87+N&daddr=County+Rte+30%2FSawkill+Rd+to:County+Rte+30%2FCounty+Rte+75%2FSawkill+Rd+to:Route+212%2FRT-212+to:County+Rte+32%2FGlasco+Turnpike+to:Route+23A%2FRT-23A+to:Route+23A%2FRT-23A+to:County+Rte+23C%2FHigh+Rd%2FRoute+23C+to:42.215424,-74.190845+to:RT-23&hl=en&geocode=FcT1fwId-lCW-w%3BFVCWgAIdiHeW-w%3BFeIYgQIdQbqV-w%3BFRyCgQIda52V-w%3BFWKXgQIdglqW-w%3BFTLigwIdbiyY-w%3BFZiRgwId6FaW-w%3BFU6NhAIdIHWU-w%3B%3BFbaPhQIdxgWT-w&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=8&sz=13&via=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8&sll=42.227119,-74.20063&sspn=0.106648,0.22316&ie=UTF8&ll=42.181723,-74.168701&spn=0.213448,0.44632&z=12)

Thanks! [thumbsup] Thinking about doing a weekend ride up the Catskills May 16~17 with a buddy from Toronto if you are around.
Yeah, I may be around, that's my birthday weekend. Drop me a PM when we get closer to the date.

Will do!
Anyone ever been to the buddhist temple in Kent NY? There are some great roads up there and then there is this Massive buddhist temple in the middle of no where, its crazy. They let you walk around and are really nice. It's also a great ride.
I usually do the Connecticut thing as there are some great roads past Bridgeport. Went out there the other day but was kicking the tail out everywhere because of the salt.
Let me know when and where yall. Look forward to meeting everyone.
Don't know about the Buddhist temple but we did come across a big eerie looking Ashram-type place years ago while hiking/camping upstate.
I keep scanning the forum with the good weather coming back for rides. I'll eventually jump on to them when I can. Especially when I see more than just the usual few (nothing negative meant here) popping up with ride suggestions.

Some 30 years ago. At that time they had a decent restaurant also. A trip there might indeed be a nice short day ride and social gathering.

Several rides I did last year past by there. btw, there is also a Kent, CT :) Definitely great roads and scenery all along the New England states.
will probably past by there again sometime in June when I'm planning to ride up to the Gray Ghost in Maine. [moto]
Now that the season is getting closer I was thinking a meet at Hiram's prior to rolling all the bikes out of storage might be in order to get to know all the people who expressed intrest in a riding group.
If anyone else thinks this might be a good idea let me know and we'l lsee what we can put together.
Also anyone who might be interested please give some consideration to possible ride routes that we can use once the season strats. I won't ask anyone to post them up, but I might ask people for a route off forum if they intend to ride in our group.
Really glad to see intrest in this and looking forward to sharing the road with some of you this season.

Hey,
So what ever became of the winter enthusiasm for putting together rides when the season started? :)
Is anyone or everyone still up for some riding?.... and is anyone ever able to ride during the week?
Never too late for a Hiram's meet up and some beep fried dogs.
I won't be able to join in on the rides until about the end of June as my fractured collar bone should completely heal by then.

I think it is about time to start the Hirams meet again.

I can post up here when it's looking good weather wise for a Thursday night if everyone is still interested.
As for the Sunday rides, I do have a list of e mail addresses from people who expressed intrest and once I clear some personal issues I will be getting in touch with those people off list to arrange a date and time and place.
If there's anyone who hasn't sent me there info and might be interested in Sunday rides, feel free to e mail me with the info I outlined in my previous post.
Looking forward to seeing some friends from last season and meeting some new ones this season.
