disclaimer: i'm not commenting on the decision to move towards more mechanical grip and away from aero grip. this is just an aesthetic commentary
commentary: GAWDAMN THE NEW CARS ARE UGLY.

once you get past the narrow rear wing, they look just fine.
IMO:
Front wing looks a lot better, rear wing looks better (higher up, more vertical area, supported at both endplates) and worse (much too narrow to look natural). Less bodywork in front of the rear wheels is... interesting. But at least the undertray looks good. Slicks doing what they do (looking fabulous) all over again.
Is the track any wider, or is that an optical illusion?

It really opens up the rear wheels and has that... cute factor! :D
Yeesh.
Um, yeah, not very handsome. :-X
Better than last year, IMO, tho.
the ferrari and bmw remind me of riding mowers.

+1
that front wing is hideous.
the rear wing just looks comical.
maybe i'll get used to it over the season, but right now the F1 cars looks too much like the lower-spec formula cars including the BMWs:

just doesn't look premiere...

Are you kidding? That McClaren is sex on wheels.

so have i.
they're still ugly.
As long as they keep that Renault around, none of the others will look all that bad by comparison.
Not the best looking F1 cars, but certainly not the ugliest either. From certain angles, the Ferrari and McLaren look good.

+1. I preferred last yr's tho.
At the risk of opening my mouth and jumping in with both feet:
I think that if the rules had been phased in more gradually, and you'd seen these designs evolve over the next five years, it wouldn't be such an issue.
That said, the sudden change is a bit jarring.
Personal opinion
I don't like the new look. But what do I care. No Montreal and no US race. F/U F1

The new front wing looks like a giant Mach 3 razor with wheels......no curb hopping with that thing poking out.....looks even more fragile that F1 wings normally are. Are they trying to keep guys off of each other and the sides of the track?

I thought I read somewhere that the track was wider but I might have just got that confused with something else (gossip).
I think, other than the rear wing, the cars look awesome. The winglets and crap adorning the cars last year were horrible, one of the worst offenders:

I'm glad to see them gone.

+1. I hated all the little winglets. I like a nice, clean looking F-1 car. Like a Lotus 49 or Maserati 250F
Or, if I must, the cars of the late 80's-mid 90's were cool.
yeah... they are different
i look at them at one angle and like them, then i look at another and hate them (mostly that rear wing).
