As some of you know, we've done some rather unique frameplugs over the past few years for our personal and customer bikes -- we think it's rather silly to make a frame plug with an ugly (but countersunk) external allen bolt to hide yet an even uglier bolt (or nut) inside. Thus we are pushing to production here shortly with some unique shapes as well that the others can't do due to their designs.
One question though for everyone is the expanding attachment mechanism to "wedge" the plug outward itself to hold into place -- what type is preferred and what haven't you had problems with long-term:
1) o-ring style that gets squished outward when tightened
2) expanding outward internal metal clip/ring
We've made both styles and personally haven't had any problems. But I've heard some pros/cons from others in regard to the various styles in the past. Thus why the question to the enthusiasts on the DMF who have installed competitors iterations.
I would think o-ring makes it more waterproof? - and can stand the vibration without moving?
Mine are from MPL through RageMoto, I think. Like them a lot, despite the bolt ;)
Make sure you also make one for the smallest hole up on the left side, partially under the side cover. The other manufacturers seem to miss that one.
Waiting for your designs [thumbsup] [moto] [popcorn]
I don't have any holes that need plugging, but those little turn signals (and 20 gauge shells) make me wish I did. ;)

Those? those won't allow gravity-fed water into the frameâ€"so why plug?

+1 for the small leftside plug and the two on the tail to make a truly complete set. That's why I haven't bought any replacements. Then the one on the left and two on the back would have the plastic plugs I have now and the others would be bling.

For tailchops? Or for the end of the frame tubes themselves (w/beertray installed)?
I have a DP Short Tail (no chop). Are the holes a different size with the tail chop?
I like the cheapy plastic black ones ;D No need to add ounces to a bike for no reason

My guess is that the frame tube is the same size before and after ???
I have these under my no chop tail job. Different style than my other plugs, for different purposes http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=349_139_545&products_id=1433<br>

but dont both of those designs require a bolt on the outside to squash or expand whatever holds them in?

If you're talking about my plugs - yes, they do. Never thought about it as a negative, but when MotoCreations talk I shut up and listen because they have so much great stuff coming out. If their new designs are as good as I expect, my plugs will be gone in a minute - bolt or not. ;)
i prefer the o-ring squish thing. i also like the idea of a matching set of plugs for tail chops
also +1 for that one smaller diameter bolt hole. it annoys me that i can plug it.
