Well, since my boyz weren't in the SupaBowl (Go Lions! [roll]), I figured that yesterday would be a good day to finally mount up my MotoGadget gauge and warning lamps on the '95 Monster.
First off, let me say that after owning four early Monsters, I really dislike this gauge panel. It just screams 'COST CUTTING MEASURE!' every damn time you look at it... <sigh>
Anyway, for reference, here's the oldie:

The new gauge mounting panel took the longest time to do yesterday. The gauge still isn't wired up, but at least it's mounted. (Yippee! I'll finally have a tachometer!!!)

Plus it just looks hella-sexy like that, eh? I'll put up my comments and problems as the wiring bit goes along in this same thread so it can be used for reference maybe even for a different gauge swap. [thumbsup] [moto]
Wow :o What an improvement!! When I bought my 1st duc, I passed on a 95 and bought a 2001. I told myself it was cause of the miles, and age, but really it was the instrument panel. It made it feel like you were sitting on some 80's beater. Good work! [thumbsup]
Definitely post up the wiring. I don't have plans now, but I also don't have an immobilizer. [laugh]

Just got the wiring diagram pdf printed today. Will likely have some wiring done tonight and finish up shortly as I'm itchin' hard to ride the bike with the new gauges... [thumbsup] [moto]
Very nice! That looks effin' sick!
(But what's with the quarter?)

Hahaha... The early bikes had a couple different choke locations. One was on the left side of the frame (mostrobelle's 94 is like that), and Allegra (my '95) has the choke coming up through the top triple nut. When I got the bike, there was a chrome bezel on there but no plate that read 'CHOKE' or anything. We (Speeddog and I) were nearly finished with the bike and I looked at this bit of unfinished-ness and thought,'Hmmmm, that looks about the same size as a quarter.' So, we siliconed one in there. The former owner (my deceased friend Dennis) LOVED it! [thumbsup]
BTW, I figured out the wiring last night... now to get some time to do it!

Lol, good story. That's interesting, I had no idea the chokes were ever put anywhere other than the left hand control area.
It's a 1995 quarter, too. 8)

Yeah, the early bikes were a *real* hodge-podge of mis-matched stuff. Bizarre really...
These are great gauges from MotoGadget. (We installed quite a few for customers over the years) Easy to read and use. ONLY real bad thing about it is when riding at night -- all the people riding with yourself or drivers in cars alongside all watch the tachometer bar rotate about the gauge itself. It really is mesmerizing.

Any of you had luck getting the Motogadget gauge to work with the stock oil temp sensor?
So is this Dennis' green monster or am I mis-remembering people?

Yes, this was the bike I built for my friend Dennis (den-bike was his log-in). He's been gone about 7 months now... But I still feel him hangin' around when I'm blasting through the corners on ACH on this bike! [moto]

You gotta get a vid of the gauge running. Since the last post about how mesmerizing the gauge is to watch I'm curious now. :P

I take it the time, and oil temp don't work for these? Not a huge deal cause it looks sick [thumbsup]

I could get an oil temp sensor (my bike doesn't have one BTW) from MotoGadget and mount it somewhere and wire it in but it's too much hassle for me as I have the oil-temp/oil-fill cap already on the bike. If I need oil temp, I just look down to see it. Works for me...
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for that puppy, and where did you get it? Thanks.
Me want.

Retails for around $550 for both pieces IIRC but I bought this as a scratched up display unit from MotoCreations (Mark's a member here on the board) so I paid less.
Mark does import them, but I don't know what he's got around right now.
I ordered mine directly from their web site (http://www.motogadget.de/en/frameset.html)(PITA, as you have to wire them the money, no credit cards) but they stock a full compliment of sensors for all sorts of things.
Mine's wired up with Oil temp, pressure and ambient air temp. Overkill, but the sensors are cheap [moto]

***USELESS (to you guys as it has no pics) UPDATE!***
I got it wired, and working! Just have to calibrate it and re-check all my wiring connections and such...
I'll post up pics and a description of the wiring connections soon...

Love the concept on this one but not a big fan of the chrome.

Nope. Is it carrying 300 lbs of extra weight in chrome?
This shot is from a couple years ago. There have been changes since then, but I couldn't find a more current one. Mebbe DM has one.

I speet on your chrome (okay the tank's chrome, but it came that way)
Polished Aluminum.
Lots and lots of it.

Polished alum is fine but chrome is just not my favorite decoration.
Whilst cleaning out my garage, I found my MotoGadget instructions & my wiring notes so here goes on the wiring I did to mount it to my 1995 M900 (better late than never, eh?!?)
(NOTE 1: I wired up the Temperature for my low fuel warning lamp)
(NOTE 2: I wired up the Warning light to run off of my side-stand switch)
Function LED MotoGadget Motosign Monster Harness
Turn Left (+) Yellow White/Black
Turn Left(-) White/Yellow Ground
Temperature(+) Green White/Brown
Temperature(-) White/Green Ground
Hi-Beam (+) Blue Yellow/Black
Hi-Beam (-) Gray Ground
Battery/Charging(+) Violet Blue/Black
Battery/Charging(-) White White/Red
Warning light (+) Red Blue/Black
Warning light (-) White/Red Grey
Neutral light (+) Brown Yellow/Green
Neutral light (-) White/Brown Ground
Oil (+) Black Blue/Black
Oil (-) White/Black Heavy gauge Black (*1)
Turn Right(+) Orange White/Green
Turn Right(-) White/Orange Ground
(*1: Of the factory wires that go into the speedo/lamp cluster there are two black leads. Oddly, the thinner gauge wire is ground and the heavier gauge wire is for the oil pressure sender)
There are 6 wires that power up the MotoScope Light.
Power (fused 5A)
Speedo signal
Tach signal
Output for a shift-light
Toggle button (momentary normally open switch (I wired mine into the LH handlebar flash-to-pass button))
Ground
Still haven't got around to a video yet... [roll] :P

It's great seeing people still posting mods on pre 2000 bikes. :D

I just picked up an SS/SP floating caliper hanger and I've low-mounted the oil cooler too... Oh, and I just need to get ahold of the guy who did the paint so I can get the extra to have some more shot on the.... -sigh- I'm addicted to modding.
