Overheard at a Ft.Worth Ducati dealership recently,by one of their own factory employees & I quote,"we could care less if we sell motorcycles in the U.S.or not"Gotta kinda feel sorry for all those folks who shelled out their hard earned family money for a bike built by people who would just as soon take a dump on this country.Feel free to stifle my free speech,it keeps it top posted, thanks!

Considering that the US alone accounts for more than half of ducati's sales, I believe this person is full of shit.
Probably some resented kawasaki rider or something.
Who cares... comments on CL should always be taken with a grain of salt.
The interwebz are a strange place

Hey now... >:(
My guess is that it was someone who wanted to buy one but couldnt afford it... so he's trying to single handedly ruin the duc market in the area so he can find a cheap used one

Speaking of, I was over at eximports the other day, and some kid (looked like 16) was there looking over the R1's with his girlfriend. I went over to talk to him and the exchange went like this:
Me: Hey man what's up? First bike?
Bag of douche: Yeah
M: That's kinda powerful for a first bike, it's kinda dangerous
BOD: Not when do the things I do, I'm into power.
I just kinda looked at him and burst laughing, turned and left.
well when he kills himself on it we can hear about how his mom is suing the dealer and manufacturer for making such a power machine available
Perhaps instead of laughing at him you should have suggested the MSF class and responsible riding

If I offer someone advice once and he won't take it, I refrain from doing so any further. Specially if said person responds in such an insulting manner.
I will stand between a person and ignorance, I refuse to stand between someone and his own stupidity.

I like that, can I use it if I credit you for saying it? And no, I won't pay royalties. [laugh]
I've had my saleman friends at Action Kawasaki/Suzuki tell me they have tried to talk similar macho dumbasses out of buying Busas, GSXR1000s, ZX14s, etc. but usually have no luck. I think the management has a "screw it, sell them what they want" semi murderous attitude. It's hard to turn away a $12K SBK sale and make a $7,000 SV650 sale when you are on commission in this sh#tty economy. There is also the mindset if they crash it and survive they will bring it back for repairs or if they total it and live maybe they will come back and buy another one.
Some days I wonder when the gov't. will get on board with other countries and have the tiered bike size/age/experience licensing. It's either that or make someone take the MSF course before buying a bike or applying for the bike classification on their drivers license. Until then we can't count on smart, reasonable, safe people always buying bikes... it always falls back to natural selection. :P

Don't take what I posted the wrong way. [thumbsup]
Text is bad way to convey emphasis. It just read to me like a 16yr old looking at a cool bike. No need to laugh at another (potential) rider.
Oh well, that's what I get for posting while working. [bang]

Sorry I guess I misinterpreted your post as well.
The kid was obviously buying, and I'm usually a pretty moderate guy, it's just stupid tools that incite my asshole reaction

I like that... maybe same thing with cars? (SUVs & PU Trucks!!!) Must know how to merge. Must know how to signal. Ah. Don't get me started.
G.
Yeh, me too. I personally think anyone that wants to drive a car should have to spend at least six months riding a motorcycle first. To me that is the best safe riding/driving program ever!!! When I am Governor that will be the first State law I sign!! You are always a better driver if you ride bikes. Wonder why they never do a statistical study about that??? Gee, I guess because it would make too much damn sense and that would for sure vapor lock the government!! :P Don't get me started either!! >:(
again...........back to "license" to breed. there, that should solve most of it. :-X
everyone has different opinions on new buyers. if the kid wants to kill himself.. screw him!!! just dont blame the rest of us.
now back on subject . i would guess that the posting individual was a perspective buyer who couldn't get the $169 dollars a month payment on a new 1098r. you know like suzuki does! [laugh] it's no different with cars. i overheard a conversation between a guy and our sales mngr on a $60,000 dollar navigator. guy says "no money down and payments no more than 300 month." sales mngr said " whatever!! cant be done." guy says "well then i will just go buy an escalade." if that is the case then screw him too! maybe you can put him and matador's new found friend in the same rocket ship and blast them both to another planet so they don't waste anymore good oxygen or contaminate the human race with their ignorance.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel about it? [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Hey Bryant, I love you like a brother, but must disagree.
The kid said, "Not when do the things I do, I'm into power."
Sometimes derisive laughter is needed to breach the walls of ignorance.
Or, as Aristitole once said, "Some men respond to a rational argument; some need a stick."
