This is my first Ducati. I've been riding for about 37 years, I owned and ridden just about everything but a Harley and a Ducati or Aprilia. I live in central CA, I am a machinist in the Top Fuel Drag Racing industry, I ride dirt bikes for fun, and am generally obsessed with 2 wheelers. Today I went to Santa Barbara Ducati and bought an '01 S4 Monster with 12000 miles, an Ohlins shock, Leo Vince pipes, Race Tech fork job, a whole bunch of carbon fiber stuff and it's a pretty clean, LOUD, bike. But as soon as I get home, there is a minor oil leak, appears to be coming from maybe the oil filter or one of the screws down there. I haven't taken a real serious look at it yet, maybe tomorrow, it's pretty damn cold out in the garage right now. And there is an intermittent starting problem, it wouldn't start a while ago, then a while later, fired right uo. I hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come. I don't regret buying it. Yet. If I can figure out how to post some pics on this forum, I will.
welcome to the board corndog67.
post up in the tech section if you are looking for some help with those issues. the oil leak could be as simple as a bad / missing washer. not enough info to guess at the starting issue.
Welcome to the DMF! Sorry to hear about your initial issues, glad you found the tech section though. [thumbsup]
