I'm just signing on here. I bought the 696 on Monday and haven't stopped riding - or thinking about riding - since. My wife is already concerned and the boss is wondering, "just how sick is he?" Fortunately we have a mix of snow and rain today and I made it into the office. And I probably owe the wife some flowers...
Originally from New Hampshire, I spent 8 years in Boston, then moved to northern Virginia in 2000. I rode (and even raced a little) motocross when I was younger and have owned a few scooters along the way. But this is my first street bike and, damn, there are no words to describe how I'm feeling about it.
I'll probably lurk about for a while because many of my questions have already been answered here. And if this is the only post of mine you read, know that you've got someone to ride with in Washington, DC. Cheers!
welcome to the board tuanogus.

Welcome, glad to hear you are having fun with your new 696. ;D
check out your local crowd in the CAM forum under local clubs.
Howdy and welcome,
I no longer live there but I do remember Northern Va was a pain during rush hour especially on 495, 66, and interstate 95.
Wish I can white line a lot of times [evil]
But riding to and from work makes the trip more pleasant
Well, glad you enjoy your new ride
Oh, we love pics around here too ;D
Thanks for pointing out CAM to me. I hadn't scrolled that far down yet.

I'm working on it! Waiting for the sun to come out...
Was out for a ride this afternoon and stopped to take this pic. That's Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the background.
