I didn't see a general thread for the 09 season so I'd thought I'd start one. (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Sooo.... No Montreal Race this year. I would like to offer up a giant make the beast with two backs You to Bernie for that one.
Fortunately I happen to be in Oz this year and already have my tickets for the Melbourne GP. I am so excited I might puke.
F1's first "twilight race". Not too sure about that one but we'll see.
A giant make the beast with two backs you to Bernie for the ongoing destruction of F1. Hope you enjoy Melbourne, though.
Given the current economic climate, I'm not surprised that there is no longer any F1 racing on the North American Continent. Seems to me they should ditch Brazil too. But that'll never happen.
Bernie, Max and just about everyone involved has been Fackin' up F1 for years.......
But I still watch [roll]
the sad thing is ,thsat is more fun to watch qualifiing then the actual race,
it seems once all the pitstops are done the race is decided

were you watching last season? the championship was won at the final corner of the final lap of the final round... the last few seasons have been pretty exciting, actually.

actually i did watch every race most of the live, 2am ,3am and so on,
i'm glad to see finally a closer group of cars in the front not just ferrari or mercedes ,BMW did good and renault woke up late in the season.
but alot of times once the front 3or 4 cars are gone ,the race is almost decided,
unless Massa blows up with Yards to go (still feel bad for him)
Last season was one of the best seasons of F1 that I have seen since I first started watching back in the 80's. With all the rule changes this year, I think there is a real opportunity for teams like Renault, Red Bull, and Williams to be challenges again. I fully expect to see 3-4 teams with wins and maybe twice that many with podiums.
I'm really looking forward to this season [thumbsup]

Well, that's a positive way to look at it, and I see your point. My concern is that, the more uniform you make things, the less of a truly "premier class" it becomes. I like competitive racing, but I also want to see McLaren and Ferrari able to perform to the best of their abilities.

I'm not a huge fan of over-regulation, but I do like what they're trying to do with F1. As much as I enjoy seeing the prancing horse in victory lane, I would rather see them get there through super teamwork and great driving, rather than outspending the competition on wind tunnel and other testing.
Looks like Ross Brawn bought Honda. They're going to use Mercedes power plants now.

I was surprised he didn't end up with Ferrari power, but I hope they are able to catch up and not be perpetual backmarkers this season. I also hope this is a sign that the FIA, FOTA, and Bernie have come up with a rules/compensation package that will allow for real privateer teams like Williams to re-enter F1 and be competitive.
Good news that Brawn will be running the team himself.
Ferrari already have a 2nd supply and M-Benz have been wanting a 2nd team supply for a few years.
Myself, i can't wait to see them going round on slicks again after many years on grooved tyres.

McLaren/MB signed a deal with Force India this offseason. They now have a 3rd team.
As for the new season, I'm not expecting much more than safety cars coming out on Lap 1. The old cars were bad enough in traffic at the first turn. These new front wings are gonna be a nightmare. Then there is the whole no North American races thing. I've gone to the Canadian GP for the last 10 years or so and now I have to find something else to do the first week of June. And finally, we have our 2 favorite obnoxious old guys, Bernie and Max. Bernie seems to be trying to singlehandedly destroy the sport by pricing races out of reach of the great tracks that are privately owned (Spa, Hockenheim, etc.) and don't get gov't subsidies, like all of the Middle/Far East races.
