Dear fellow motorcycle riders of the pacific northwest
I took my tank off for welding and painting. Its been off for a month now. My bike is fuel injected. I didnt put stabilizer in the gas in the tank and run the bike before taking the tank off. I dont understand how fuel injection works. If there is gas in there somewhere, its a month old. When i put my tank back on (at this rate it wont be for another month) will i have a hard time starting it cause the gas left over in the fuel injection system is old? Or is that not how it works? I think gas starts to break down in a couple of months doesnt it?
Sincerely,
Dumb ass
You should be fine. FI pumps fuel regardless of demand for it. Most FI recirculates the fuel it doesn't use back to the tank, So fresh gas is seconds away. Is that true with Ducati? Don't know, I have a carbby! Were there 2 lines attached to the tank? Regardless, the FI will send fuel until it starts, if the fuel won't burn, more fuel is on the way until it does start.
Ahh, i too am use to carb bikes. thanks for the reply.
by the way, what the hell happened to the forum, everything is so bright!
A month isn't that big of deal. I periodically start one of my cars that has been sitting for 4 years with the same tank of gas, and it's carbureted. It's a Carter, so it obviously doesn't run well even with good gas, but, eh, shit'll buff out.
