Well it has finally happened. I finally settled my claim and got the money for when that idiot pulled out in front of me. So now I have a handful of cash and am trying to make a decision but I am at a loss. I loved my Monster and will absolutely get another one at some point in the near future but for now it will be a baby Superbike. So here is my problem, WHITE or RED? I mean I go look at them and I think, oh that white looks so good, when it is clean of course, but then I think it's Italian, it's supposed to be red. I am paralyzed by my own indecision. And I know this is a Monster board so bear with me a lil please?

oh that white looks so good
Took the words right out of my mouth.
If Ducati didn't think white looked good they wouldn't have offered it.
White is the new Red. ;)
If you aren't a cleaner, go red.
See that is what I am worried about with the White, not being a latte drinking type rider, not that there is anything wrong with that ;D, I would rather ride than clean, so it would be red, but DAMN the white looks so good. I am so confused. I am either lucky or cursed too since my wifes response is, 'Just pick one, buy it, and go for a ride ya big pansie.'

definitely lucky! ;)
I'd take the white one.
White doesn't get that dirty. I haven't washed mine in a while and it still looks sweet! ;D
The hardest color to keep clean is black (in my experience).
I vote white.
I'm normally not abig fan of white, but that would be my choice with an 848...
Get the Martini sticker kit [thumbsup]
I think you're worrying needlessly. I have an '05 white car, and I've never had any major issues keeping it looking reasonably presentable, and a fully-faired bike should be less of a problem to wash than a car, IMO. Also IMO, a red bike looks just as ratty when it's dirty as a white bike does.
White is right ;D
White. This whole "Ducatis should be red" thing is a relatively recent stereotype anyway.
I vote white...plus it hides scratches better assuming no paint or color was swapped in the incident.
I like the pearl whit on the 848....
not real impressed with the quality of the ones I've seen though.
White, i've got one and it hasn't been a problem staying clean and i've been riding it almost daily.
RED is the only color for a ducati.
Another vote for the white. I have put 3000 miles on the one that I am bike sitting and haven't washed it yet. It still gets the looks from the ladies.
White bike with black wheels is good. Blue bike with white wheels is bad.
White white white, all the way.
It's SO iPod right now. ;D
White for sure.
I love my black Monster, but if I was going for the baby superbike, I'd hit up a blanco one for sure.
Well I suppose that decides it then, it shall be white. Just have to get to the dealership now, plop down the duckets, drive home, get a ride back, ride it home on a very circuitous path, man sounds like a lot to do when you think about it.
I kid, I kid.
I like the white and it is one of the colors of the Italian Flag.
Man go with the fastest color ducati's look good in one color and one color only red. Dont make the mistake I did.

Go white i have had 3 white cars so far and they are easy to keep clean just whipe it down with a rag after a ride and the dust comes right off. Even if you dont they dont attract dust that bad, white is so sweet. But i understand your feelings towards red i would be just like you right now
The white 848 at my local dealer looks SWEET!!!
another vote for the pearl white - it looks awesome
I understand the argument for red (Italian, classic Duc color, etc) But I sat on a white 848 at the local dealer, and I have to say that it was absolutely beautiful....
-I vote white....
-You don't see too many white sportbikes period, let alone Ducatis......
Another vote for white!

+1 My white S4rs always looks cleaner than my previous 749 Dark ever did. Besides if you like the white enough you'll be more inclined to at least give it a whipe down every now and then. A soft cloth and windex only takes a few minutes to clean it up. That's what I used to do on the dark. I'd just do it when the ride was over. Saved me from the dilemma of "do I just ride, or should I clean it first?"
Italian = RED
The white is new and looks good to us now...I'm not sure how it will look to me in 10 years.
I am sure in ten years a RED Ducati will still look "right"
I'm gonna wish I had your bike regardless of the color :'(
white
and you owe us pics soon!
Ok everyone, I picked it up yesterday. Wow is it different from my Monster. I will get another Monster one day but for now I have to say that it does ride really nice. It is like it knows what I want to do before I do and it just does it. Shifting is crisp and clean, the engine is smooth from down low to as far as I have taken it, only 6K right now. The riding position is obviously a lot different, not better or worse just different, I confess that will take a little getting used to. When I take in for the first service I am going to have the suspension set up for me. It feels a little stiff but that may just be the difference in the 2 scooters. Mirrors are nearly worthless, I am going to look at the extenders by Shift-tech as well as the rearsets they sell and maybe a tinted windscreen. Even those are preference things not necessary to enjoy it. The dealer was trying to convince me to buy the complete system but I told them I was going to hold off for a bit, 132HP is enough for now and it seems to go ok for me.
So here is the first pic in front of my other vehicle.

Excellent choice.
The pre-load is set very high on the rear as delivered from the factory. Get the sag dialed in for your weight and it will handle great.
Get the mirror extenders or a set of CRGs and you'll be set.
Nice bike [thumbsup]
The 848 is the reason why I painted my bike pearl white

nice ride!
but watch out. that ford looks a bit jealous.... ;D

I know when I saw the 848 in person I wasn't at all impressed with the quality of the paint job. It was rough like a dark. If I want my bike to be gloss I want it to be like glass. I am not sure if it was like that on the red too but the white wasn't that smooth.
White! I'm redoing mine in white.
GORGEOUS.
congrats!
be sure to get some beauty-shots!
and also a few with you on it. ;)
ah, and about pearl white aging: it ages magnificently, photographs like new until it's beyond munched. here's a 15 year old Kawasaki in pearl (http://flickr.com/photos/unseelie/2500253145/in/set-72157601916005344), you can't see any of the wear, skritches, or use - there's a major burn beside the mirror and on the chinpiece in obvious black, everything else is lost in photography and really difficult to see IRL, too.
Looks like white is the new black...
I'm still groovin' on the Martini sticker kit. Anyone? Class? Bueller??
I can only comment on the paint on mine and it is very straight. I have not found a flaw anywhere in it, no orange peel, smooth as glass and it POPS in bright sun, in fact its hard to look at.
During the ride today it attracted a lot of attention, there were probably 5-6 1098's out and everyone was commenting on the baby superbike.
I already decided that I was going to get the mirror extenders, a new set of rear sets and new windscreen. Saw a Puig windscreen today that I really liked.
Put 200 miles on it today and the only complaint I had was the guys I was riding with were pulling away from me since I could not ring it out. I can't wait till I can see what it is really capable of.
beautiful bike...good choice in the white. [thumbsup]
break in period is really annoying...all you want to do is jump on it, but one day you'll reach that 600 mile service and be able to juice her a bit more, then you'll get to that, what, 1200 mile mark? and be able to open that baby up!
