Hello all.
My name is Jim from just outside Boston Mass. I've been riding for 3 years and currently have a Suzuki S50 (800cc) standard cruiser. I am fairly happy with the bike but am looking to upgrade. So I am considering purchasing a new 2009 Monster 696+. I have yet to ride one but plan on doing so as soon as the temps get reasonable and the 2 feet of snow in my backyard melts :-\
I have heard that due to the economy, this is a great time to buy a bike. I am not sure what is considered a good price for a new bike. I typically use kbb.com or cars.com for new car invoice pricing, but have not been able to find similar info for motorcycles. Any suggestions?
Soon to be Monster owner,
Jim
welcome to the board Jim.
if you are willing to look at used bikes, you will likely find a bunch of 08 696 available, as many are planning to upgrade to the 1100.
thats assuming that you are not interested in the old style monsters. if you like those, there should be even more options open to you.
Thanks Herm. I Definitely want new...
Welcome Jim, good luck with your purchase! :)
You might want to ask your question about pricing in General (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=1.0) and/or your local group NEMHA (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=26.0). [thumbsup]
As a general rule, you don't see much knocked off on Ducati's. If you get $500 off, you're doing really well. At least in New Orleans, I think prices are holding up. You might have better luck trying to get a deal on accessories/apparel.
Howdy and welcome James,
Like swampduc said, If you get $500 off of the OTD (out the door) price, you've bargain well. It helps to pit all your local dealers to see who will give you the best deal. If they wont lower any more ask for free or discount on gear, upgrades, and or services.
Happy hunting
Welcome and, yes, you will find used 696 easily as many have migrated over to the 1100 (including me). Nothing wrong with the 696. In fact, I would still have it now, but my buddy wanted to start riding so I sold it. It's a great bike! [thumbsup]
But it is a good time to buy if you plan on financing it. Ducati is offering a good financing deal, if you qualify.
