Title: Stands for spooled swingarms
Post by: dropstharockalot on March 06, 2009, 06:45:32 AM
Please share your brand of stand for spooled, double-sided rear swingarms, as well as your experience and satisfaction with said stand.

My apologies if there are similar threads in other sections... I search'd, but didn't find anything conclusive... I've found bits'n'pieces about Pit Bulls and a few others, but nothing that seemed comprehensive.

Thanks!

I've got a Pit Bull. Got the dual-type head. Works great for the spools on '95 900. Sometimes if the bike wasn't quite where I wanted it I would just lift up the handle a couple inches and push the bike around while it was still on the stand.

The tubes used are on the thick side. This causes clearances for tire removal to be very tight for me. Also, the last mod I put on was billet aluminum swing axle brackets.http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=14814.0] http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=14814.0 (http://[url) The axle plate is thicker than the stock plate, which is just a plate of bent steel, so it gets in the way of the stand when you try to use the spools.  :-\

Overall I'm quite happy with it. I'm 5'4, 130lb and can use it no problem by myself. It's relatively light. I have difficulty using their front stand though. I didn't did get the front forklift thingy that goes under the steering tube since my choke cable goes through there.

If you can find a CycleCat rearstand, you'll be happy with it as well. I have one, and bought their front stand as well more recently.

The rear-stand comes with both spooled and non-spooled "lifters" so you can go either way. My only bike is spooled, but I would leave it in non-spooled configuration if I had one bike spooled, one bike not.

Great thick tubing, nice powdercoating, and the handle is removable, and because i'm a clumsy sonofapregnant dog, I need the handle to be removable so I don't trip over it and knock the bike over and myself unconscious in the garage.

I recently got the Venom stands (they're super cheap currently $64 for front & rear)

They work well for what they are, I wouldn't recommend sitting on the bike like you can with Pitts but these do the job well.  They don't come with rear pads and require spools, but with the M696 having the dual swingarm, I turned the brackets around and put a rubber hose on it to make it pad-like and it works just fine.

Oh that note, I haven't had much like finding rear slider spools for the M696, and if anyone has any recommendations I am all ears...
