Not sure if this is a derby but I only saw it today. In Aus we don't get the UK mags until a month later so its actually the April 2008 issue.
It has monsters on the cover and about 10 pages on the various types and configurations. I don't often see monsters in the bike press unless its a new model release as the magazines tend to concentrate on the new and cutting edge. But they get a good recommendation as an honest road bike in this write up. For example they say of the S2R800 (my bike) that its refined and an excellent bike and the perfect combination between performance and practicality.
Good to finally see some common sense and real world appreciation from bike journo's. ;D
I have been looking for one of those, and I have not been able to find one.
+1 It's a good read. I tried not to mess the magazine up too much and I'm going to save it as a history of the Monster.

Sure is. I picked mine up at Angus & Robertson yesterday. I haven't been in to look at bike mags for a while so I'm not sure how long its been out for. If I can get it in Tassie you should have no problems in Sydney.
When I was going thru the process of choosing a nekkid bike last year, it came down to the Super Duke (but I already have a KTM LC8), Speed Triple and a Monster. Loved the Triumph, but then I rode a Monster S2R800. Absolutely was stunned by the ride of the Monster, it felt like a natural extension of me in the saddle. Wanted a little more sizzle on the top end, so ended up with the S4RS. Am enjoying the bike immensely. [thumbsup]
I have the magazine/article - I'll try to figure out how to get from print to PDF and get it posted...
and if any Aussie's need a copy, just PM me and I'll be able to pick up a copy on Monday.
it's actually a pretty good read usually, I read it at my local library regularly. the reviews of gear are great!
[thumbsup]

cause i really want someone to scan this article and link it.... i'll paypal you a beer? [beer]
You can get a US subscription off of Amazon and supposedly can pick the mag up at most major bookstores. I can't find a link for the mag or the article online.

Thanks for the reminder, I keep forgetting (it's in the bedside stack somewherez - you know, mixed in with the Juggs & such) - no need for the beer if/when I finally get off my butt & do it...

I still can't even find a website for the magazine. You'd think they'd have something like that.

Hahaha, I got that one too. It was my second result. The first one was some horse site.
Did you get a copy of the June-July RobbReport MotorCycling issus ? They featured a Desmosedici and a 1098R on the cover w/ a great article of 2 riders riding them and then trading places on a track at a private track in the States. Plus lots of other neat bikes from the latest brand offerings to some really exotic customs.
here it is lads, but it won't help....they are British (that means about 5 years behind most US sites) so it won't have the Ducati article, it's a good magazine and a below average internet site

Thanks Spider. You're right no Ducati article. Here's a list of all the Duc articles they've done:
http://www.ridetriangles.com/nav?page=ridetriangles.keywords.search.results&workflowStatus=LIVE&action=search&magazinePageReference=yes&orderByScore=true&allWords=ducati&x=0&y=0 (http://www.ridetriangles.com/nav?page=ridetriangles.keywords.search.results&workflowStatus=LIVE&action=search&magazinePageReference=yes&orderByScore=true&allWords=ducati&x=0&y=0)
Edit: I just emailed their "contact us" email to see if I can get an electronic copy of the article. If I have any success I'll post it up.

That 916 used to belong to me! ;D
What I find a bit disappointing about the article on it though is that when I passed it on ,it was all there with no missing bits (rubbers or pillion pegs etc.) and had a complete service history and in the space of one owner has become a mystery, as are the 'uprated forks' the standard ones had uprated internals and were superb and yet someone needlessly replaces them, for what purpose?
Meh! no accounting for some people though. [coffee]
hey, that 916 was mind-blowing - the part about the tank and the 'painters' signature - the idea that every tank was painted by the same bloke in that year! amazing.
You had a great bike - obviously sold it to someone who didn't appreciate it!
So I finally scanned it. Initially I did it as PDF, but tinypic doesn't support PDF. It's not the best quality, and not in color, but here goes. I tried loading as one long message, but kept "failing"
It looks like you can't read from screen, but if you "right click, and print it", comes out pretty good...
If anyone knows of any legal/copyright issues with scanning & posting this, please let me know, and I will remove.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting up the article!
You're very welcome!
Like I said in 1st post, it doesn't look so hot on screen, but if you print it out, it comes out pretty legible...
you da man! [beer]
Thank you very much.. Interesting that they don't have the M1000 DS. I think it is 2003 to 2005 right before the S2R 1K
Thanks for posting the article!!!
