. . . this guy needs them.
Scott Rosey (rugbymook on many forums) crashed at VIR, stood up and before he could get off the track, got blasted by other riders coming up on him. I don't know the track, but as I interpret things, he crashed in an area that was blind to oncoming riders behind him. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know him (loosely) from track days at BeaveRun (he was a control rider) and he is a great guy. As I recall he was a WERA expert rider and stepped up to AMA last year at Mid Ohio.
I never expected to hear that something like this would happen to him.
I guess I never expect to hear it happens to anyone I know.

I know VIR North Course and I am having trouble putting together where on North Course this would have occurred...the Esses are wide open visually and the only blind spot that I can think of is maybe turn 10 which is nicknamed "Stevie Wonder" by some of the staff there...otherwise..most of the course you have a 3-5 turn visual access at any given time.
thoughts be with him as it doesn't sound good...
Crap. Good luck rugbymook.
+ 1. best wishes for a speedy recovery.
From page 4 of the 13x thread. . .
"Crashed in front of a lot of riders, got up, got clipped and knocked back down into more of a blind area and hit by a couple of bikes. Corner worker there did great but nothing much anyone could do as tight as they were all bunched up."
From further down pg 4. . .
"Get well soon guys!!!
The Ess's are a problem for the North course. Crashes don't easily clear the track and down riders get hit. Similar to Toriano's tragedy last year in the Red Bull Rookie Cup.
God bless you guys."
Here's the latest from someone that was there-
"I am currently waiting to get todays update on Scott directly from his parents at the hospital. When Scott arrived at Duke he was concious, knew his name but not much else. His vital signs were good, he had suffered compound fracture of the right ankle, broken left forearm, broken vertabrae in his neck, severe facial trauma, and three hematomas on his brain. I was able to see him very briefly but he was heavily sedated and immobilized. Sometime through the night the hematomas grew, but not of significant amount to warrant concern of the doctors. Subsequent test revealed they were stable. Scott went to the operating room sometime sunday night, they temporarily cleaned and stabilized the compound fracture of the ankle, stabilized the forearm. The doctors initially thought he may need a halo but decided he only needed a collar for the broken vertabrae. I believe I was told only two vertabrae and that there was no misalignment. He had been on a respirator during the medically induced coma,as common procedure, but he can breathe on his own. They will remove the respirator as they bring him out of sedation sometime today, for more tests. He will begin facial surgery tommorow. I will give updates as I get them. His family knows of everyones well wishes and support."
Best wishes to 'mook and his loved ones, sounds like he's making some good progress.
That's what I read. [thumbsup]
I read (either on WERA or the Steel Cities Riders board) that as he was getting off the track he was hit by another rider who was at full lean and couldn't miss him. Face to face hit :(
Sending well wishes and good vibes his way. [thumbsup]
Hugs for his family and friends.
Heal quickly brother....
Sending positive vibes your way Rugby! ;)
