Bugger !! [roll]
Murphy has struck again, while checking out a sticking choke cable (750) I went to raise the fuel tank and the catch/lever assembly came off in my hand!! :o
It looks like the later ones might fit the same also, (DS)?? ???
Has anyone seen or heard of one of these kicking about??
Thank yuzz all. :(
Hey Dragon, my catch lever is as loose as my chain is or was. i haven't worried about it but it does unlatch easy, like its owner :D
You izz a RUDIE !! [evil] ;D ;)

Da wun an' only !! [thumbsup] [bow_down]
bloody hell you two!!!!
jukie, you can adjust the clip, it winds in and out on a thread, and dragonworld, they all fit the same, my 888 has a black plastic one and my S4R has a metal one and they're interchangeable. the black plastic one hasn't been available for a while though apparently.
paul.
Yep, had a look at the one on my DS, and it fits the same so I found one on fleabay US for under $50 delivered!! ;D [thumbsup].
Thats what busted! [roll]
The plastic. :(
Mine was loose for some time - adjusted it to its full adjustment - still loose.
Turned out the fuel tank clip bracket seated under the ignition housing was bent. I went to it with a hammer (preferably a large one with flat smooth surface) on a firm surface to flatten it out.
Check it - it may be the problem.
The nugget factor!
You do want to make sure the clip does up tight enough to stop the tank wriggling - you don't want the hinge to be taking all the twisting forces - the clip is there to hold the tank down on those rubber blocks on the frame - if you leave it loose you risk cracking the hinge welds and having the tank start leaking...
big
My plastic one broke some time back, bought the metal one but I had to use the old metal bit that hooks over the frame bit as it was slightly different.
Mmick

Yep to that, and because the 750 has the locating lip the other way round, I found it was easier to mount the metal clip the other way round from standard so it located better. Other than that it fits a treat, and metal is a fair bit stronger than plastic. [thumbsup]
Having said that, it DID last 11 years. ;D
