Question:
Should Toasty be retired, and a new DMF appliance created
Option 1: Yes, new board, new mascot
votes: 9
Option 2: No, nothing can replace toasty
votes: 15
Option 3: Boobies
votes: 11
I noticed today that DP was the first "member" to reach 1000 posts. This milestone made me wonder... since a toaster was the prize for reaching 1000 posts on TOB, should we come up with a new "mascot"?
Toasty is legendary, and I think his travels should continue. But since we have a new board, do you think we should have a new appliance.
I also nominate DP (the first 1k poster), if we decide a new appliance is needed, to choose what said appliance should be.
Voting is open for 1 week.
I noticed I worded it as "replace toasty"... not saying replace him, just give him a buddy.
I've got a spare pipe laying around?!

DMF Hookah?
;D
I'd say something totally different - coffee grinder
if your gonna do this, you need to consider the following
1) appliance must be able to transported without trouble on a motorcycle
2) appliance must have room exterior/interior for sig's, stickers, notebook, etc...
3) appliance must have some relevance. (i.e.-- toasting poptarts, which was the original tie-in)
so, how about a blender?
mmmm, blended poptarts.... :)

I haven't figured out how to post oics, so the link will have to do.
The moto blender

I say a 1/4 keg, you an strap that puppy to your back, once you drank all the beer out of it, of course.
Ok, really I would have to go with either an espresso machine or a french press, but that may have something to do with the time of day I am posting this. If it was late at night it might be a fry-pappy, but no I still say coffee stuff.
I say we all slow down and let it develop. This isn't a continuation of TOB. This is us, when something develops (like Toasty did), it will become apparent. Don't force it. Don't try to get every thread, every topic, every "official" up to the old speed. Enjoy the infancy of the DMF. It'll never be this young again.
It took a long time to get Toasty up and running. It took the random motivation of 1 member to give us Toasty. So, my opinion, "let it be."
A fridge. For beer.
We all go to it :D
Z...
I think in the meantime it would be fitting that the toaster returned to the owner until this is sorted out.

Like the one at the far left in the Reverend's sig pic?
I would fear any object that holds liquid (blender, coffee maker, etc.) after it passed through Oregon.
KEGERATOR!!!

no one man/woman/transgender person owns the red metal wind
I think we are overlooking the obvious here:

Why limit it to appliances. I say we go for a welder. Just my current favorite device. It can do all the things you could do with
toasty. It'll brown bread, heat up pop-tarts, with the added benefit of joining hunks of metal together.
Well seeing as I never received my Toaster for my 1000th post on TOB it's a bit irrelevant, no?
How come the new mascot can't be boobies???
I really like boobies. I'm sure they would make a fine looking mascot.
I'm just sayin'

No, because tastes are too varied and the mods to said boobs would not be consistent. That and plane tickets are exspensive.
And Paula totally said no to the whole idea.

One more outburst like that, and I'm throwing you out of here!
After meeting Toasty in person I've realized there is no replacement. But he and Blendy could be really good friends. Think about it pop tarts and tasty blended adult beverages. [beer]
I'm thinking simpler. Many if not all DMFers enjoy nay relish a fine micro-brew. Most micro-brews are packaged in bottles lacking twist-off caps. So I humbly suggest a finely crafted one-off anodized CNC machined from the finest billet stock.............BOTTLE OPENER. Easly transported on a motorcycle, could be made over sized allowing lots of room to engrave the names of members lucky enough to actually wield the Official DMF BO in the heat ofbattle a BBQ.

A blender would get broken.
HOWEVER,
a stock pipe is pretty dang solid!!

Toasty must live! :D
AZ baby... the only folk who won't
not want to see that are the few who haven't.
let's stop kidding ourselves...
there is NO replacement for toasty.
