Title: Update: My new (to me) Tangerine S2R
Post by: MsTek on April 09, 2009, 05:15:22 PM
Let me see and update:

Things I have ordered for the bike (all of which I am going to install all by myself so tips are apprecated):

Frame slider
Rear wheel slider
Bar end slider
Scorpio alarm system

The bike is still at the store where I bought it.  I am not bringing her home until I am sure no more "wintry mix" is in the forecast (about a week or two more.  place is fine with babysitting her for me)
I will drive her home then sit on my sidewalk and install all of the above.

Questions:

Does the handlebar tip just come off so i can easily put the slider on?
Do I need any "special" tools  I have hammers and adjustable wrenches and screwdrivers and a few power tools too  [evil]

Next on list:

LED tail light.
Black cover things for the engine.
NEW FRIGGIN' EXHAUST SYSTEM!! (!@##%)

Welcome.

You'll find useful install guides here:

Get yourself a nice metric allen key set.  You'll be using them a lot.

Here is a list of common socket and allen sizes used:

Rear wheel slider - a no brainer [thumbsup]

Frame slider - you need to prepare yourself to support/almost lift the engine to get the old rod out by pushing the new rod in. I think you need to torque it correctly afterwards - it does hold the engine to the frame, so it's kind of important to get it right. The shop will do it for free, takes two minutes.

Bar end slider - another no brainer. You unscrew the bolts at the end and they come right out.

Scorpio - good luck, take your time [coffee]

You'll need at least a set of metric allen keys - and get better ones than those supplied with IKEA furniture [bang]

Leo Vince and Arrow make nice exhaust systems.  I personally think the build quality of these systems is better than the termis.  I wasn't real impressed with the termis.  I opted for Leo Vince SBK on my new bike.
