I low sided my bike last fall, and got a pretty good size ding in the tank, and a rashed rear seat cowl. So it's going to the body shop to be fixed. Instead of painting it back to stock ( Dark 02 620 ) i was thinking of going another route.
I'm thinking of painting it like the new Harely Iron ( flat black with / egg shell, flat clear on it ) I"m playing with the idea of getting a gloss black ducati Logo made / or bought and putting that under the clear. Kind of a stealth look to it. Or just leaving the Ducati Logo off all together.
I definately want to keep the bike black and mean and dont want it a shiny black. Matt or flat finish.
Am i taking away the value of the bike by doing this, i dont plan on selling it any time soon.
thoughts ?
cheers.
matte black is the way to go.
fastest color and all that....

Ship it to DP. Sit back and enjoy hearing the thud that will be the panties of all women around you hitting the floor collectively.

f'ing hysterical.
of course, you wont know about the panties, since your new matte black tank will be soooooooooooooooo fast!
I'm not so sure about the panties thing, but I second sending it to Ducpainter. [thumbsup]
whens the last time a girl was excited to get a lackluster dimond. its always about hte bling blang.
If you can undent the tank, id chrome that shit up and give it a sick paint job on top. then girls will be droping hteir panties and throwing them at you. You might want to chill on the paint job, if its too blingy, all the panties in the air might end up in your chain. and thats a big no no.
i refer you to desmolus tank

If a girl cant appreciate matte black, I want nothing to do with her or her panties.
just saying.
1. Some girls don't wear panties.
2. Some girls rare more interested in their own monsters.
Just sayin'. ;)
So guys are saying my witty personality is not enough, and I have to get my tank painted too? :-\

The "dark" paint does not have a clear coat. You can get the decals in several options. This is what I did.

So is Ducati making their bikes out of cheaper/crappier materials?

Not exactly. The Dark is sold at a cheaper price. It is the base model. It is sold at a cheaper price and has lower grade specs so that you can "mod" it more. [thumbsup]
^^ I like the tank decal.

In the case of using flat paint, yes.
In other cases too. :P
as much as I love my dark, and would likely repaint it a very similar "color" if given the opportunity, I hate that it scratches so easily and ya can't take a buffer to it :-\ and I really don't like tank pads...
