That diagram was a significant part of my decision to do this with my flip helmet:

They're supposed to be pretty good as far as 3/4 helmets go. They've got some cool designs too.

I say "As long as you have 3/4 of a head, go for it" YMMV
Sorry, that's not a helmet ......
It's a fashion statement - a good fashion statement, but still ......
My $.02
To each his own, fullface helmets are the safest way to go. I have a Nolan n42 3/4 helmet and my complaint about it is, despite the more open face the helmet has poor ventilation otherwise. And this helmet has no venting at all! From experience I can say, on an 80 degree day, your face will be comfortable and your head will sweat like crazy. If you're going to go this route, I say look for something with front vents and rear exhaust ports. I have to agree that this is a cool looking helmet but more" fashion statement " than practical helmet is right. Nexx makes a similar helmet with some models offering decent venting, check them out.

Awesome. I love how people contribute subjective opinions that don't answer the OP's question or remotely contribute to the discussion.
I think a cage is safer than a Moto for commuting. Let the man shop for a 3/4 helmet. I don't think he was looking for a lecture in safety.
Aw come on, mang. We gave him 3/4 of the response he was lookin' for.

isn't this post a subjective opinion that doesn't answer the OP's question? ;D I loves me some irony.

thanks for the feedback, i really was just looking first hand experience with this helmet in particular. I have a full face helmet, but I am in the market for a half shell, for short summer rides- i am aware of the dangers affiliated with motorcyle riding and wearing proper gear- i think of myself as a responsible rider :).

Around 35% of helmet impacts happen to that area. If there's no helmet - it's a face. That's fact, not subjective opinion.
My subjective opinion is that one should avoid open face helmets - I actually care about the OP's safety.
I didn't open my mouth to be negative - sorry if it seemed to be so.
i went down hard on a tank slapper. full face helmet was tore up in the front. had a friend go down on gravel, front of the helmet was shredded practically. that being said. i had looked at some cool 3/4 helmets, then Ben 'loose jaw' Roesthlesberger had his accident... full face only for me.
Simmah down y'all.
Nobody is pointing out that 3/4 helmets aren't great protection to be a-holes. They are pointing it out because they care about the quality of the gear as a protective device.
The OP has stated he knows this, so job done.
Although I'll pig-pile and say "My opinion is you can't be a responsible rider and wear a 3/4 helmet. But I'm a full-gear safety Nazi."
I do have one question, however: Does anyone know how effective those detachable chin guards are? I'm guessing "not very" but I'm really hoping the answer is "very" as I love the look of some of those 3/4s ;D
Oh yeah, before I forget.
A good buddy of mine has a Momo and says it's pretty comfortable. However, it's pretty damn loud at full speed so he's relegated it to just scooter duty around town
in the end when one smashes into a van at 75 mph the full helmet wont do shit anyway

ride naked. it's very liberating.
you guys are not being reasonable, if you would wear a full face helmet all the time all the head injuries to people from simple slip and falls would not be as bad, because that is safer than walkign around with nothing on guaranteed. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
just kidding guys, basically we are all adults here, do what you want as long as it doesn't affect or hurt me. [cheeky]
eggs actly
its an extreme sport when you think about it.
if a helmets gonna be that much of an issue then yes one should be worn while crossing the street or riding a bicycle , you could have all the gear in teh world on when a bus smacks into you its not really gonna help, riding a motorcycle, a bicycle or simply walk a cross a street.
and yea that momo helmet is dope where can i order one, it would look choice w my 749 dark

One time I was late to class and didn't tie my shoes when I left the house. Got to school w/o incident but while I was running to class with my helmet still on I tripped on my untied shoelaces and fell flat on my face. Helmet kept me from getting a bloody nose and a nasty headache. [thumbsup]
There's a pretty comprehensive review of the fighter on www.webbikeworld.com (//http://). The guy who does most (all?) of their helmet reviews goes into RIDICULOUS detail and doesn't spare any detail in his scrutinization. I guess it's a cool lid so longg as you have a fairly short, round head. I have a huge noggin, and I can already kiss the inside of my Sparx, so I don't think it would fit me well, but you may give it a try.
In the defense of flip up helmets (as opposed to 3/4) that front shell is at least going to suck up some of the force of the initial impact. It's the same principal behind race cars, where you design the cockpit to be bullet proof and design the rest of the car to break away and carry some of the energy away from the driver. I say go for it. If either the Nexx or Roof would fit I'd rock either of 'em.'[
