Title: Axio tailbag
Post by: DucHead on April 21, 2009, 07:06:27 PM
I was surprised when a search turned up nothing on this tailbag by Axio.

Does anyone have one of these?  Opinons?

Bag/seat cowl combo [thumbsup]

The right color and some stripes/stickers could make this a permanent fit ...... maybe

Didn't someone on TOB buy one of these? I seem to remember seeing it on a Monster, but I can't remember where?

that really doesnt look bad at all. i wonder if that bottom part is collapsable so only the hard shell part is above the seat. that would make the lines flow a lot better when its not stuffed full of gear i think.

im gonna keep this in mind for a possible touring mode addition  [thumbsup]

Nope, not collapsable.

I've got one on my 696.  I've managed to fit more than you'd think in there...
-heated jacket
-jacket liner
-sunglasses in a case
-pack of cigarettes
-extra screen for helmet
-gloves
-wallet

It's obviously not a big touring one, and you can't store your helmet in it while eating BBQ, but it does the job great for day-rides.

Oh, and everybody makes fun of you for luggage at the beginning of the ride, but I guarantee that by the end of the day, you're carrying something for everyone in your group.

The biggest PITA about it is that it takes some creativity to get mounted up well.  I've got a system, but it took a few times to get it right.

Oh, and the faux-CF looks nothing like real CF... obviously.

hmmm.. pretty cool. Kinda wishing I had seen this before ordering the cortech sport tail bag... Looks pretty integrated based on those pics, similar to the 696/1100 DP tail bag. Nice find.

Yeah, it looks alot better then I thought. I was thinking about getting the Cortech tail bag but after see that one, may have changed my mind. Try to get a pic from the back.

I don't have a photo from the back on my computer right now, but I think it looks best from that angle.  It actually matches the profile of the seat almost exactly, and mirrors the angles from the tail light.  I'll see if I can dig one up tomorrow on my work computer.

I ordered  a black matte one from new enough ( got to give a dollar to the site ... Woo!) along with a star cargo pants, getting tired of using a backpack all the time.  By the dimensions posted I may be able to fit in my laptop which I take to work most days.It should be at my house tomorrow. ill try to get some pics up.

i wouldnt count on fitting a laptop in there!!! unless u have a truly mobile pc

i ended up winning a dowco fastrax bag from ebay, which is a very very nice bag.

the only problem is it is too big for the monster seat, and i cant seem to get it tight enough to not move around on me. the bag is very big, but not big enough for my laptop

i think in the future ill grab a dark axio, which like someone said already, looks like it fits perfectly!!

No reasonably sized laptop will fit in the AXIO bag.

Yea it was wishful thinking being my current puter is the smallest one ive ever had. oh well, i still got a lot of stuff in there over the weekend. Flip flops, pair of shorts, 2shirts, wallet, cell, sunglasses. With the cargo net I got a full 3/2 wetsuit  and a kite boarding harness on top.

Some one was asking for some pics of the back so i took a few with the cellphone.

Man, I really love how that follows the lines of the bike. I haven't seen another tailbag that blends so well with the Monster...

I'd def like to see a photo of all that gear in the case along w/ the wetsuit etc strapped to it. just got back from Nova Scotia and certainly would have liked to have a better means of hauling a week's worth of clothing and camping gear.  sounds like you're making good use of it, i'm still not won over by the looks of it.  i see them in the stores once in a while and keep thinking..."looks a lot like a...(http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:mQF-Hre7WQoIrM:http://www.foodfacts.info/blog/uploaded_images/big-mac-box-back-lg2.jpg)

Wow that's a nice looking tail bag.  Any chance anyone knows if a few textbooks could fit in there?  From the specs it seems like it would hold a couple average size text books but it's hard to tell with the way it's shaped.  I would love to get a tail bag for commuting to class instead of wearing a backpack.

I would say 2 normal sized textbooks...maybe 3-4 if nothing else in it.

I put one on my HM on top of the DP rack!

Anyone know if the silver matches the Ducati silver on an '07 S2R1k?  I'm trying to decide between gambling and ordering silver or be conservative and order the black or carbon.  Thoughts?  Thanks!

You will always wonder how the silver would have looked. I'd say order the silver - it's going to look good even if it's not a match. Return it for another color if it absolutely doesn't fit your taste.

Wow too bad that axio tail bag is so small, I am currently using a cortech sport tail bag and with the sides expanded slightly it holds my 15" dell perfectly. Now if i could find some way to make the dell fit in the Axio then I would definitely use that instead. The cortech works great but looks kinda funny especially if i don't take the rear seat cowl off before i mount the tail bag on.

i bet that would match the lines of the 696/1100 even better than the 'classic' monster
more angles
