With all the $ in advertising, I'm always surprised when they don't take the effot to get things right.
Years ago when flannel was still cool, Ralph Lauren featured himself in an ad. It was set in the woods with a rustic cabin in the background and falls leaves on the ground. He's wearing classic lumberjack red and black flannel and RL jeans of course Guess what motorcycle was featured in the background? A CBR F4! What first semster intern came up with that idea and what supervisor okay'ed it? How hard could it have been to find a dirt bike? (Adventure bikes weren't in just yet.) Also, he had this huge "I just won the state rodeo" belt buckle on that no proper motorcyclist would wear for fear of scratching their tank!
Fast forward to the current Progressive Insurance TV commercial. Supposedly they're the #1 motorcycle insurer. Their print ads feature agents who are also supposedly riders. Well, in their TV ad, the spokeswoman goes vroom vroom and the guy goes "sounds like you ride a 500". When was the last time you asked ANYONE what size bike they had and they said 500? Ummmm, Mick Doohan? THEN she replies, "more like a 900 v-twin". Once again, when was the last time, if ever you've heard that? Would it have taken that much more effort for them just to say, "600" and "883" or "1200" , respectively? Those are figures that are familiar to all motorcyclists! To me they just lost their credibility.
I suppose next you are going to tell me that the talking Geico Gecko is not real?!
No, he's real. It's the AFLAC duck that I'm wondering about.

Gee, when she said that my immediate thought was "She rides a 900 Monster. Cool."

Ha! Yeah that's right! I guess I was thinking that she was refering to a cruiser since whenver someone other than a Ducatisti says v-twin, they mean cruiser. BUT I guess she's not necessarily making that reference.
BTW, have you seen the ad for the 900 Monster for sale on CL. The poster says that people should steer away from the 695 because its got no balls. I dare to object!
make the beast with two backs that. flannel shirts FTW! I'm rockin' mine right now, in fact!
and R-lo, sweetie, I think you need to find new hobbies :-*

Well I was thinking about taking up motorcycle riding but someone can't seem to get his girly bike sorted out and someone else keeps putting his up for sale [roll]
I doubt that someone having his bikes for sale keeps him from riding them. But if it does, he could always go take my SC out for a spin to keep it from getting too lonely...
all it needs is a new rear tire...
and the new barrel/dyno-tuning...
eventually install the suspension...
I will admit, though, I was terribly spoiled by the roads in the bay area. the lap just isn't the same :(

Oh yea,......Oh yea....... does someone want to compare miles on the clock? Huh? Huh? There's 2000 on the Gixxer alone in less than 6 months and the Monster hasn't exactly been idle either. Sheesh. Oh, if I don't sell these bikes then I can't get another Duc to torture myself with. So there .......
Oh, I saw the SC the other day. Looking good. Now all you need is to find that other CF wheel.
Teddy, how long were you in SF? I sometimes miss the roads we had in N. GA. Words can't describe how awesome they were. I wish I had take some pictures, but I wasn't into photography back then.
Touche' Mac. But now that things are all sorted out on my Monster, I'll be racking up some miles this summer.

Thanks R-Lo. The other wheel is supposedly coming, along with the complete 999 front end swap and speedymoto triples to round it out. Now just can't wait to get back and try it all out...
