A few years ago I would have said go for it as far as registration goes, the most you would get is a ticket.  Insurance is another story, that is both a major offense and a major risk.   Now, with the check points and tow practices, either wait or make a trip down to DMV.

well i can get insurance, no problem, i can call it in right now and have them fax me the paper work and be ready to play. im just wondering if id be able to fight the registration thing if i do get a ticket. I rather not ride until the thing comes, and since i already paid online, they arent willing to get it to me at the DMV...

Registration is normally just a ticket that you could probably get reduced.  If you run into a "motorcycle safety check" your bike could be impounded for any paperwork that is out of order including registration.

Yes, better off waiting. You'll get spotted at the NY toll booths.

It's raining anyways...

I got a no registration ticket with my car and payed for it that day.  Then just sent a copy of it in with my ticket and had the ticket dismissed.  If your registration is out of date on the bike they can also just look it up on their computer.

The last two summers they have been impounding bikes for lack of paper in NYC, all part of the crackdown.

Such bullshit! I travel 3 or 4 times a year to europe for work and it's all bikes out there. When will the US be friendly to bikes that make less traffic and parking spaces. I think SF is the only true biker friendly city.

No safety sticker?  Whats that?

I wasn't really clear on my last post but if your registration is actually paid for and up to date you can tell them this and that it just has not come in the mail yet.  Then they can look it up and see it is actually current by using their computer.  Of course if they are cracking down then they might just screw you since they can.

it's ideal to have all valid items (reg, inspection, etc.) as the city is in a ticket blitz to get much needed $$$.

A report on the blitz http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30581221 (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30581221)

and I believe it will go beyond just parking fines, they'll look for anything to give tickets including towing.

if a cop sees you parked in the city with it, youll get ticketed fo sho. My friend got ticketed for being in line with the no parking sign.
i got double dipped that one time being a few inches over the firelane zone ( which is dsigned for a car so a fire truck can turn) with no plate.

ive also been analed raped with no lube that one time i walked away from my bike to go to the store to get water. 30 seconds was all it took for the cop to tag me and run away.

and then there was the time i got tagged for parking on the sidewalk inside campus. Ive won 3 tickets and had the rest reduced. couldda bought my ass some mods!
