Title: New Here, New to Riding
Post by: Smokeater on May 05, 2009, 01:47:26 PM
Hi all,
I've had the pleasure of meeting CJ as I'm the one who bought his bike.  The thing was really loved and I'll do my best to take as good of care of her as he did.  I'm new on this board but lurked a bit as I was researching the monsters. Biggest thing I've ridden before this was a 250 so its def a jump in power. I hope to get to know some of you as I progress on the bike!

Greetings and salutations to you Smokeater and welcome to DFWM. Glad to see you got CJ's bike. I've eaten lots of smoke from that bike as it was hard to catch up to CJ when he was on that bike.  :-\ Plus the fact that he's just a damn good rider might have something to say. Got yourself one sweet ride man. Hope to meet up soon with you.  [thumbsup]

Howdy and welcome.  You did indeed end up with a winner motorcycle wise.  I know CJ took very good care of his Duc so I'm sure you'll be in for many more miles of smiles (O.K. evil smirk in CJ's case  [laugh] ).

Gotta luv the sound of those air-cooled twins  [evil]

Looking forward to meeting you.

Lisa

welcome to the group; you found a nice bike for sure.  though george will bust your ass in two if you ever hurt that bike....for real (did you see his guns??)

he did tell you about having to shave your palms to ride it properly, right?  and posing on it naked for a private charity photoshoot?

Welcome to the board!!  Great group here- they helped me out quite a bit on the old board when I first bought our 695.  Damn CJ....you stole my customer!  LOL.  I'm glad you still went with a Duc Justyn....enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I just been sticking around town trying to learn the ropes.  Slow and steady.  I don't get why people say you can grow out of these monsters too fast.  It seems to be PLENTY enough power to get you in trouble.  So far so good, low speed turns are still tricky though.  Anyways look forward to seeing you guys on the road someday.

hey smokeater. Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I just bought my monster a few months ago and it is definately a big jump in power compared to the little dirt bike I rode on. I thought I was tearin it up on my little bike jumping little hills. After getting on the monster, I realize I was just putzing around in the dirt. I'm still getting used to mine as well. I don't get to ride as much as I want.

Welcome to the board.

I completely forgot that I've got used front and rear tires for ya (no laughing, you too will be old one day  ;)). They've been over at RichD's since before the Fall HC trip when we swapped them out for some new rubber. We can work something out to get those to you--that is, after I pay him the storage fee....  [laugh]

I also have another used rear tire that came off of LYD's 750. I found that one in the shed when I did some lawnmower maintenance this past weekend. All three are yours.  [thumbsup]

Heck, I'll probably keep finding various parts to the 695 for another year.

Damn, I wish I knew you had that tire george, I would have told you to bring it.  Mindy could use a new rear tire on hers!!

Maybe Smokeater will settle for just one extra rear tire....  ;D

Anyway, will it fit the 900? It's a 160/60, I think.
