Hey Beck. There's not much action on this forum these days.
I know Montreal very well, although I don't live there. Probably spend 25nights a year for work. Anyway, the Marriott Residence on Peel is a really central place to stay. I usually stay there when I'm in Montreal. Many bars and restaurants are on Crescent Street - roughly a 3 block walk. Subway station is next door. Lots of shopping on Sainte-Catharines. I would strongly suggest staying on Peel vs on Jeanne Mance for convenience sake.
You might try checking out this site for some ideas:

Let me know what kind of cuisine and bars you're looking for and I can probably make some recommendations.

Best place for the Bachelor "Party" is at Wanda's, corner De la Montagne and Maisonneuve. On Ste-Catherine there's Club SS. The groom is always well treated....
Places to go out, Crescant is mostly Anglophone with sir winstons a place to visit. The new Pinokkio at the corner of Maisonneuve and Crescent has some nice people.

Enjoy your stay.
The best street in Montreal is ST-Denis. There you have restaurant's and bars it's really the place to be in the summer......St-Catherine is not that all welcoming whit prostitutes ( depending on what reason your coming to Montreal...lol ;D [cheeky]
Crescent street is the place to be during for the F1 Grand Prix
and for a big european flavor you have to go to the old port or Place St-Jacques it's really nice...
...I live in Montreal
