Title: WSBK - Miller Motorsports Park - May 29-31
Post by: RED on May 10, 2009, 07:27:42 PM
As most of you know the ONLY WSBK race in America will be held May 29-31 at MMP in Utah http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/index.php (http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/index.php). I am considering making the trip out to watch the race. Tickets are around $450 rt from DFW/SLC/DFW. Event tickets packages are around $145 for grandstand seating. Each ticket in the package comes with a paddock pass. There is no shortage of tickets nor places to watch the race. The park is massive and can host a lot of people. Given that the track is located in a fairly remote place and there are not many hotels which lends to camping for this race. The distance is 1270 miles and would take a couple of days to ride therefore would probably be more of a fly-rent a car-camp at the track kind of experience. This is not for everyone I know and it would take a willing bunch to do this. But given that the season has been one for the history books already it stands to be an historic race to watch in person when Spies shows up to do battle with Haga.

So therefore I would like to know if anyone would care to plan on at least a 4 day trip to the race. I have all the backpacking camping gear to camp in any weather so this will be mostly a flight/car and event ticket type of expense. If you are familiar with backpacking/camping you know what to bring. There are cafes at the track and public showers/bathroom facilities. This trip is more adventure than cushy for the tushy type of trip I have in mind but since it's just me that's what I thought of doing.  Something cheap as can be and fun.

Anyone here feel up to making this sort of trip?

Update: I did another check and there are hotels in the area and some as of this morning have a few rooms open. They range in price from around $110 up. Flights on AA run around $320+ RT. Priceline has package deals for around $650 up (not including the package ticket price at MMP).

No prob there, saves the bucks. That's what I'm thinking of for this trip. Looks like it's a solo trip!  [thumbsup]
