Title: Stolen Truck!
Post by: LYD on May 12, 2009, 08:14:23 AM
Well Sunday night my Tahoe was stolen from the driveway.  Yes its the truth!  we went out in mindy's car for mothersday, when we got home it was in the driveway.  When mindy got  up she took the dog out for his morning walk and it was gone, no broken glass in the drivaway, no nothing.  just gone like the night.  so we are down to one vehicle and 2 bikes.
they (police) say they have only had to come to this neighborhood twice since it was built (3 yrs).  also that if it ever does turn up it will probally be in  the DC area.

Man this sucks!!!

Thieving bastards! Really sorry to hear about this. Nothing (other than child molesters!) pisses me off more than thieves! I really dodged a bullet when they broke into my storage unit and tried to steal my heavily cabled and locked motorcycles. I won that round! At my farm last week I discovered that someone found a very well hidden set of keys to my barn. They were in a magnetic key box in a place by the barn that they have been for years. I could have given you a whole week, with clues, to find the keys and $100 says you would have never found them! But some SOB was on my property snooping around my barn and found them. They took the keys and left the "hide box" sitting on top of a fence post!

Amazingly, the barn was still locked and absolutely nothing was taken! What kind of thief takes the hidden keys and doesn't steal anything? WTF??? All I could do was change out the piss ant door lock and the pad lock on the big sliding door and hope they never come back. Yeah, right. :P I live 110 miles away, I can't watch the place 24/7. Who knows when it even happened? I keep a bike in the barn but it is cabled and locked as well as my other bikes so even if I'm not there all the time to stop them they will have one hell of a time getting it. That's all you can do.

Again, sorry Alan for the loss. Hope they find it in one piece and not stripped. My dream come true would be to catch someone stealing my s#@t or breaking into my house. Glad I know a bunch of DAs, defense attorneys and criminal court judges... just saying. [leo]

My buddy Nate's harley just got stolen from his apartment last week. He had to deal with the insurance people yesterday. Horrible situation.

my insurance company (liberty mutual) is okay, its the WV berkley county Sheriffs dept that really sucks.  there is a total of 5 of them and they are some lazy hillbilly hick talking SOB's (no offense to any of you  lazy hillbilly hick talking SOB's).  and yes all 5 of them!!!!   The insurance company and the lender are waiting on them, and us also.  the sooner this thing gets settled the sooner I can get something else!

if you run into troubles with Liberty let me know.  One of my long-time friends is the State Director in Oklahoma and he could call in some chips if need be.
good luck

No need for a rental car, mindy is not working so her car is there to drive, plus the weather is better so most days I ride the bike, and the best of all is that insurance will cover $15 a day for a rental, where in the heck do I find a car to rent for that price?

if it makes you feel any better we'll let you tell everybody that people on the highway couldn't stop staring at *your* bike on the trailer all the way there.  that, and your bike goes like a thousand MPH faster than me...

well no word on the truck, yet.
But i did talk to insurance and they will start the process on the 30th, they tell me that they wait 3 weeks to see if the truck ever shows up.  So nothing yet, just waiting until sat (which really means monday) before they start the paperwork to pay it off (or what part they want to pay off)  thank goodness for gap insurance!
