Haga has been pretty quiet so far this year in practice. He just does his thing, doesn't struggle to top the time sheets, and gets his set-up for the race and gets ready for superpole. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in his place (or Spies') in those standings for the first practice.
Shakey's crew said they figured out what was the problem at Monza and think they've resolved it. Dunno what it was, but hopefully he'll return to form. Then again, if he doesn't we get to keep giving tufty shit. It's win/win. ;D
Which guy is "Shakey"?
Byrne. Last year's BSB champion, I think.
I dunno if you remember that youtube vid from TOB from while back of some brits doing triple digit wheelies while lanesplitting? They were on a Suzuki TL, a Duc (996?) and something else. They crashed two of the bikes and spent the entire 30 min vid calling everyone they encountered a dumb, slow mothermake the beast with two backser and generally leaving a trail of bodies throughout western Europe? That was Shakey. ;D
Sik, i remember that vid [evil]
He is a 2 time BSB champion...he did it on a 998 for the MonsterMob Ducati team in 02 I think and then last year on the Airwaves Ducati 1098....
Laconi is in a chemically-induced coma after fracturing his neck in practice. He can move all his limbs. Fack. Good luck, mang. :-\

Unbelievable.
SPOILER ALERT...
Haga does the double (http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fSectionId=942&fArticleId=4985372)!
Can't wait for Miller. You know Spies is gonna bring it there.

shift lever broke:
http://www.crash.net/World+Superbikes/News/146952/1/spies_we_cant_give_away_points_like_this.html (http://www.crash.net/World+Superbikes/News/146952/1/spies_we_cant_give_away_points_like_this.html)
“We made some major changes to the set-up for race two, and I had a completely different motorcycle,†he revealed, “I figured that, if it worked, I might have a better shot at running with the Ducatis and, if it didn't, I was still confident I could put it on the podium. However, I think we actually found something with the changes.
"Then, no sooner had I gotten into the lead when I went into a turn and started hitting my normal downshifts and the shift lever broke. By the time they would have fixed it and got me back out on the track, there would have been no chance to ride back up into the points, so I got off the bike and watched the rest of the race from pit-lane.â€
Considering it's Spies rookie year the sky is the limit for that guy. It's a long season and the team has a lot to learn. I'm sure going forward they know what they can do and will get it all sorted out.
It's nice to see the Ducs up front. I was noticing on the fairing it actually says 1198 but on the grid they show they are 1098's. Are they still 1098's or are they using 1198's now?
the 1098R was/is 1198cc.
that said, ducati refers to the 1198 in all their race press, so i assume that it's just a broadcast graphic that hasn't been updated (yet).

+11tyb. I didn't even watch Race 2 after he lost his shifter, and have stayed away from commenting for a coupla days. Ya know, this season would be much more interesting if Ben didn't have a DNF every other race.
Ducati w/ Haga is putting on an absolute clinic. No mechanicals, absolute consistency, no drama.
P.S. Dunno if y'all watched the Speed commentary, but that substitute announcer from South Africa sucked balls.

Well, Martin was out on track, so it seems that was the best they could do. :-\
The crashes, DNF's and mechanicals are killin' Ben.
He's in a big hole.
If Haga has a bad spell, he might be able to claw it back, but that's not looking likely.

well, when you consider there are 16 more races, it's not that big of a hole.
If Ben wins
every race from here on out and Haga gets second in each, Haga wins the championship. It's a pretty big hole. Then again, it only takes one bad crash from Haga for him to miss a round or two and it's all wide open again (as long as Ben finishes more than 50% of the races [roll]). Ya never know how it goes with racing.
All I know is that I really don't want Fabrizio to beat Elbowz in the championship.
