I'm getting ready to order a pair of Dainese Mekong Pelle leather pants (likely from CycleGear.com) and am struggling to decide on a size. I'm 6'1", weigh 180 lbs, and generally wear a 33-inch waist in jeans and other pants. From the size charts I've seen, I think I'm probably a size 52 in Dainese speak but I'm just not sure. Anyone else manage to crack this code? Thanks.
I'm 6'0, 180, 33-34in waist and wear a 54 in Dainese Delta leather pants. Shouldn't be too much difference in the Mekong sizing. There is definitely room in them to wear the liner. I'd have gone a size smaller (52) but the were tight with the liner and I zip my pants/jackets together and there just wasn't enough length there...rode up a bit much in all the places you want nothing riding up!

Perfect; that's just the info I was looking for. I'll go with the size-54. I hadn't thought of the issue of length and the pants/jacket riding up when zipped. Thanks for saving me from a bout of falsetto.

The 54's are going to be
far too baggy on you given your dimensions, and will not be as safe as a properly fitting (read very snug) pant. I would go with the 52's if I were you. Pants will stretch even more so than a jacket, so you want them to start out borderline uncomfortably snug. The Mekon does not come with a liner, so that should not be taken into consideration.
General rule of them with all Dainese pants is too add 18 to your waist size. There is a little wiggle room there, but not much.

Thanks for that. What about the issue of length? Do you think the 52 will be long enough, even when zipped in to the jacket?

You should be fine. These pants, just like our suits, are not meant to go all the way down to your ankle. They should terminate roughly 2/3 of the way down your shin. As for attaching to your jacket, the zipper is secured to a stretch panel that has an amazing amount of give.
If they do turn out to be too short for you, you may want to have a look at the Delta which is available in a long version.
Bump... I wear a size 48 jacket (best fit), and my pants are all 30"x32" (on the hipsâ€"I don't wear em around my belly button).
I'm 1.87m/63kg. Do you recommend a 48 (like my jacket is and my "waist size" would seem to indicate), or a 46 because I'm even smaller around my actual, anatomical waist?
I presume the 48 would be what I'd get with a 1-piece suit that fit my upper body well.
Thanksâ€"hope this sounds like a stupid question. [thumbsup]

Obviously, the best thing is to try them both on to check for fitment. If that is not possible, I'd still likely go with the 48 given your dimensions, but it is hard to say without seeing you in person to asses the fitment through the thighs and other areas.
If need be, we could send out both sizes for you, then just return the one that is not ideal for a refund.
