Title: MA Motorcycle Insurance????
Post by: Jeremy on May 20, 2009, 10:14:13 AM
So, I'm moving (thanks to all you guys for the transport help...the bike is on the way!  [bow_down]) and it seems MA is a pain for insurance. Any recommendations on who to get insurance through?

Thanks for your help.

It seems that Geico, Allstate, State Farm, Nationwide all don't offer motorcycle coverage in MA. Progressive does, but it seems a bit expensive.

Try Foremost. They are a subsidary of Farmers and are pretty reasonable. They classify the Monster as a standard, not a sport bike...

Insurance in Mass is regulated... You are unlikely to find one company lower than another as it is all written from the same book. The insurance comps do vary in the service they provide to customers. I have Commerce ins through an agent and was very happy with the payouts the adjuster worked out after getting hit on my Bandit. MSF gets you 10% off too

Jeremy, I just reinstated the insurance on my bike last month and for me Progressive was the cheepest for full coverage. Shop around there will be some difference in price and check on-line. I think you probably find the best price on-line, I did.

Yeah - I just found out there were some things in my history that caused the rates to go crazy. Apparently, 0 points doesn't mean non-moving violation for the database the ins. companies use. Thanks for everyone's help!

I'm going through the same pains this weekend as I am trying to buy a new bike.

I didn't think progressive carried bike insurance in Mass.

On another note, what do you guys carry for liability / property damage.

I have never insured a bike before and want to make sure I'm not over/underinsuring.

I just went through Progressive and got a year for $105.

I ended up going with Progressive as well.  Best price by a long shot.

This is no longer true. It has changed in the last year.

I have lived in Mass my whole life and I have found that Hanover has been an awsome company to deal with. I know that sounds stradnge for an Ins. co. but they have always been very good (and fast) about handling claims for me.

Good luck!

No one else could come close to Progressive for me. I got a quote from MetLife, I have my car insurance with them. I never had a late payment, a ticket or a claim in the 17 years that I've been with them and the quote was $500 for the year. It's kinda ridiculous seeing that I have my BMW 3-Series with them for and full coverage I pay $800 a year for that.
