I just found out about a version of the Isle of Man TT race that's going to feature electric motorcycles.
One entry is from here in SF, with Tom Montano riding it.
Mission One: Testing, Tear Down, Travel...to the TTXGP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epKXVqCTCqo#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq-hd)
And here's a video of the motoczysz bike on a dyno. Sounds like a giant electric drill. ;D

that thing is awesome.
Very cool. I hate the look of the bike, but the prospect of riding on electrons instead of hydrocarbons is tantalizing.
Of course, the [leo] will still find a way to ticket you for having aftermarket exhaust...
We're talking in General about why it needs a clutch? Anyone have any ideas?

The first mod will probably be "uberbase" speakers designed to emulate the sound of a loud exhaust ;D
And I chimed in the other thread: It's either there to keep the motor from drawing too much current on launch (but there are other ways to do that), or to emulate a "real" bike.

or to emulate a "real" bike.
so what's a real bike versus a "fake" bike?
These guys entered too..

Too bad you cant combike the looks of the E1pc with the performance and technology of the Mission one. Then you'd really have a bike..
There are 17 bikes entered in the TTXGP.
You can read about all of them here: http://www.ttxgp.com/index_nav.php?page=teamprofiles (http://www.ttxgp.com/index_nav.php?page=teamprofiles)
A little trivia: that e1PC uses an iPhone as its instrument cluster:

So, in other words, it'll freeze up in the middle of the TT, then prompt you to join every WiFi network it passes on the island?

No, but mid-corner the display rotates to portrait. ;D

How fast are they claiming that thing can go? Electric does that mean immediate torque? Yikes that could be really fun. But I'd miss the beautiful smell of burning oil and gas coming out of my not so legal exhaust ;D [thumbsup]

Pretty much. The challenge is to control the torque electronically so you don't just spin the wheel or loop the bike when you get on the "throttle"

Mark my words: When the electric bike becomes popular enough they'll sell Glade plug-ins for 'em

They're claiming something like 150.
According to reports, in practice the electric bikes are only a few minutes off the gas bikes' pace.
