Just curious - i have never had the fairing on the bike. Wondering if it is even worth playing with - personally i like the look much better with it off.
I only use mine when it's starting to get proper chilly.
I NEVER use it. It's in a box in storage.
Removed mine the day after I bought the bike (and sold it on Ebay)...
used to use it... probably still would if it fit easily after changing out my bars/MCs...
makes fwy riding a little more bearable for me.
but, yes. it does look better naked
I have mine off.
The only big difference when I had it on was that my helmet would get buffeted at speed, whereas without it the wind was hitting my chest.
Visually, I like it both ways. But if the front fairing is on, I like seeing the seat cowl too. Actually, I like the seat cowl regardless.
i liked the fairing on my old (cookie?) monster but when i get the new (tentacle?) monster i think its going sans fairing
I didn't have one on my first Duc (Dark) didn't miss what I didn't know. Got the second Duc (S2R1000) and it had a fairing. It helped on the freeway a bit, but wobbled around. So I got the poor duc rider fairing supports and they made a HUGE difference in stability and protection. That being said, it's currently in a box in the garage cause it looks better without it...
I pretty much agree with everyone else that has had it on. I commute 80+ miles a day and like to think it helps and maybe protects the wires up there, but like the look much better without.
I was wondering if anyone dresses up the wiring going into the tach unit. And has anyone had any issue with riding neked in the rain. I use mine as my daily ride, rain or shine.
Nope, I've ridden in down pours without the fairing. No issues...
<----- i put mine on for road america last summer, but otherwise it is off all of the time
i am ambivalent about it.. i don't like the way it flappity-flaps at high speed, but apparently it has to be that way so it doesn't disembowel you if you flip over the handlebars.
also, i have some wiring hidden behind mine, so might not remove it. plus, on the S2R bikes, the strip lines up nicely.
What fairing? My bike didn't come with one.
I ride regularly in the rain and wind without issue.

lol ok, ok!
sheesh
[cheeky]
Just bought a used front cowl in winter and had it painted. Will see how it works out for first time when I get her back from mechanic. Bike never came with that.
So what do you do to stop the wobbling of the front cowl? It seems like an issue from what i read.

IMHO the SR bikes look better with them on unless you're running clipons in which case take it off, lower the guages, & hide the wiring [thumbsup]
I also run the poorducrider stays...... they rock [thumbsup]
OFF!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually about to sell mine! 07 S4R ti if anyone wants it....
